The address on my pilot certificate doesn't reflect my current legal address on file with the FAA.

Is my pilot certificate legal? Did they send me a new one when I changed my address and I just didn't get it?

And which address is the 'legal address' if you have a 'physical address' and a 'mailing address' on file with the FAA that are different?

From www.faa.gov:

Update Address with FAA

To update your address, submit a signed, written request stating your name, date of birth, social security number and/or certificate number, and your new address to the mailing address below. Click here for a form to update your address with the FAA or create an account and update your address online.

Mailing Address: FAA
Airmen Certification Branch, AFS-760
PO Box 25082
Oklahoma City, OK 73125-0082

A post office box is not acceptable as a residence address. A residence address must be furnished; however, if you wish a post office box -preferred mailing address, you may furnish both. If your residence address is listed as General Delivery, Rural Route, or Star Route, you must provide directions, or a diagram, for locating the residence attested by your signature. A new certificate is not required when updating your address and will not be issued automatically.

--------------------

To get a new certificate, you must send in the fee and request a new one unless you haven't asked for a non-Social Security # based Pilot Certificate #. If you use the form to change from SSN based number to a unique pilot number, the certificates sent to you are free!

PS - even using my best Evelyn Wood reading techniques, your posts are extremely hard to read, understand or follow due to your avatar. Now what were talking about?

I also have an old address on my pilot certificate. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you want to double check if they have your proper address then go to www.faa.gov

then go to certification of people and then interactive pilot inquiry and then search for yourself. That should show your current address. If not then i would ask questions.

Address

The FAA doesn't care if the address on your certificate is your current address as long as they have your current address on file in OKC.

FAA Address on file

The address on your certificate is OK, if it is a place you can receive a registered letter. Yours brother's, your parents, as long as the people at that address can receive your mail. All the time I was in military I lived in 5 different states, had my parents address on my certificates.

The address on the certificate means nothing. The address on file at OKC means everything. Certificates are not reissued for a change of address.
