Posted on the Yahoo DAL board. Poster states that there's talk that DL is trying to secure financing for purchase of ACAI CRJ's. Anyone else heard this rumor? I certainly feel this is a possibility if ACAI is talking with ERJ.

I don't know if any of ACAI's CRJ's are fully paid off, but I'm sure they would release them to DL if they would take over the payments and pay them their equity stake. Also, any that are leased could also be picked up. Banks and leasing companies I'm sure would find DL acceptable.

This would be interesting as I'm sure most of the pilots would not go with this deal, as they would stick around for an EMB ride.

Lowecur,

That might be the FRJ, not CRJ purchase. Some people on this board think that ACA will dump their Dorniers and sell them to Delta for use at Comair. It is all speculation at this point, but someone at Comair stated that they want to negotiate for 37 passenger jets......

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

General Lee

The poster stated he's heard in both MCO and CVG that DL is trying to arrange financing for the ACA CRJ's. His moniker is Ilovesaabs, and he's been around since 99. Don't know about his credibility, but it sounds like he could be a Comair employee.

Could be someone trying to start a rumor, that's why I wanted to see if anyone else could confirm this. I heard the dojet rumor, and that's sounds like it could happen. I can't see ACAI hanging on to those if DL will take them.

Lowecur,

Your rumor does sound plausible. Just think how many RJs DCI would have after getting those FRJs off of ACA, and buying some of their CRJs---it would be huge. I wonder which narrow body plane ACA would buy with the money? Interesting rumor if it is true.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

As the previous poster stated that was likely a typo - if anything is getting sold it will be the DoJets - we need the CRJs for the LCC so I doubt they would sell them. Rumors have been running rampant that the FRJs may be sold (leases acquired by?) to Comair for the last few weeks - been hearing it everywhere we go. Hopefully if its true they will take some of the crews with them so we don't furlough another 300 people - we've had quite enough of that thanks...

FRJs

Among the many things in management's recent proposal is a pay scale for 30- to 39-seat aircraft. that's a fact, but it won't matter much when we politely refuse to take concessions.

no one has said anything about us getting ACA's FRJs, but that seems to be a reasonable assumption.

Twotter, we don't have any intention of flying the Do Jets if it puts ACA pilots out of work.

somebody in the know , please chime in....

someone above referred to an equity stake in a lease.....i thought there was none. leasing is not owning....you sublease or annul the lease..lose your deposit and go home..

typically, so i thought, all the Mfger's have financial arms that leaseback these planes.....most airline financial people have for years always opposed ownership....is that accurate?

The language is part of most DCI contracts. Delta does not want the Dorniers, but has no choice.

When Delta contracts with Connection carrier XYZ and XYZ Airline has to acquire airplanes to provide the service the manfacturer's require Delta to guarantee payments on the aircraft.

If Delta wishes to cancel XYZ's contract, the manuafacturer still gets paid.

It is just like a teenager who wants a new Camaro and daddy signs the lease.

Again, this is another case where Delta's mainline scope is going to bite their own pilots in the butt. ACAI has announced intentions to violate the scope, so Delta has to plan to cancel the codeshare - but - there are heavy financial repercussions for doing so and in the end, some DCI carrier gets more airplanes.

When, when, when, will the Delta MEC learn from their mistakes and stop screwing their own pilots?
