I thought ACA said they wouldn't ask for more concessions from the pilots. Listening to the ALPA update tape, I guess that isn't true!

Opinions?

ACA is asking for more concessions? Remember there have been no concessions yet. The original TA was contingent on a new UAX agreement. They are not asking for more concessions on what was already agreed to, they are looking to redo the current concessionary agreement. Don't think of it as what more management will take, but what more can the pilots get.

sounds like BOHICA, to me.

Rules have changed

When the parent goes bankrupt, your company elects to go it alone, and you have 5 years senority, what do you do? stay, leave, go on strike to make it better, whatever you do you will not know for five years if you made the right move. Unless of courses it is JB, SWA, etc type of job. A squadron mate of mine jumped from a regional named Delta in the mid 60's to go to work for Pam Am. Plenty of guys who worked for us went to AA, UAL, CAL, in 00 and 01, most have called to see if their old jobs might be open.

Does anyone have an idea when ACA will end their contract with United? Also, is ACA worth waiting for?

ACA isn't hiring right nowand has pilots on furlough. Other jobs are not indentured servitude (just seems that way) so you can move to ACA when the opportunity arises.

Come on guys don't be naive. Of course our management is going to ask for concessions...and they are going to ask for a lot more than they got us to sign off on last time (I say "us"...I was a firm and vocal no vote). And guess what...they'll get their huge paycut and sorry narrowbody pay rates. Know why? Cause our pilot group is scarred sh!tless that they might loose their jobs. My prediction...we will sign up for rates well below jetBlue's and also take cuts on the CRJ flying (which, by the way, will make up about 80% or so of our flying). I really hope I'm wrong. I hope the pilot group can "grow a pair". But I don't think it is going to happen that way.

And then we've got to get the thing off the ground to begin with. We're gonna need all the luck we can get.

Ziggy,

I think that Dogtired is one of the pilots on furlough, based upon his profile. He asks a valid question, one which I struggled with when ACA made their announcement. Should I stay or should I go? That decision was made for me when I learned that the earliest recalls would be initiated is 1st quarter 2005 (best case scenario).

Fortunately, Comair decided to hire me and I can't wait to go to See Vee Gee to start training with them!

Kewl! Congrats, KAK, glad to gear it!

(Will Kev B. get a class date there, too? Poor guy has had class dates at COEX and ACA ... he deserves a break. :D )

I thought it was a valid question too. Hope my post didn't make it seem otherwise. There is no reason to wait around for ACA if opportunities arise somewhere else. I'm not sure that there is enough information available to make an informed decision on how successful ACA will be. Good luck at Comair!

Nope, not at all Ziggy. Just pointing out that I thought he was a furloughed 41 FO based on the profile, as opposed to somebody looking to "get in the door" at ACA.

Take care,
KAK
