Listened to last week's chief pilot message. He said ACA management met with United's management. CP said ACA is "optimistic and ready" Maybe all the hiring is for potential growth. Makes sense, and this way if there is growth ACA is ready and won't be undermanned. Just my 2 cents.
 
ACA Growth

It would certainly make sense that ACA is anticipating growth. ACA plans on hiring up to 500 pilots by the end of 2002 and are filling classes into January now.

The hiring surge began in March 2002 and the hiring projections provided to AIR, Inc. have risen from "Hiring as needed" in February to "Hiring 329 on 2002" in March to "Hiring 514 in 2002" in September.

I find it hard to believe that ACA was THAT far behind in pilot numbers.
