I was wondering if anyone out there has been hired by ACA after being rejected the first time through?

I interviewed last week and received the rejection letter yesterday. I have a solid background of experience with plenty of multi and current 135 ., my resume was walked in with a glowing LOR by a member of management, even the sim ride went well. However, I didn't fare so well in the personal interview.

What are my chances of getting another interview in 6 months? Is there any hope or have I blown it?

Freightman,

You should never give up on doing what you want to do in life. My suggestion would be study on the items you felt did not go well. And re-apply. I know from past experiences with pilot recruiters I know in my unit say they like to see someone re-apply. That shows there determination and not just giving up.

Actually, I think you probably already know your stuff from the sounds of it. In the personal interview they're asking themselves if they could sit in the cockpit next to you for 2 hours - you can't study that, just be yourself.

Hi!

I was turned down in my first interview w/ ACA (I didn't make it to the sim). The interviewer said that he, himself, was hired by ACA on his second try. He specifically told us to apply again after 6 months if we wanted ACA and wasn't hired.

Also, about 1 year after my first interviewer, the ACA recruiter called me out of the blue (I had submitted my resume a 2nd time about six months earlier) and basically begged me to come in and interview.

I read of 1 guy who was hired by SWA on his 7th!!!! try. So, if you want ACA, (or anywhere else that turned you down), I would try again.

I heard of another guy who flew DC-3s cargo. He interviewed at an airline (I don't know which) and was interviewed by an F-14 guy who didn't relate to him very well-he wasn't hired. He later interviewed again at the same airline with a guy who used to fly recips, they hit it off, and he was hired.

I had a masters class with an recruiting/employment research specialist, and he said that interviews are of no help whatsoever in predicting how an employee will succeed/fail at a company, and there was no reason whatsoever to do a personal interview.

Hang in there and keep trying!!!

I was shot down last August, before the world came crashing down, and never even made it to the sim. I sent them a resume in June, and recieved a call for an interview. I had to turn it down because my boss just spent $10,000 for me to go to Flight Safety, so I really couldnt up and leave.

Good Luck and YES they do call back!

There are a bunch of people here that didn't make it the first time. Don't worry about it. Give it another try in 6 months.

Three of my friends at ACA were rejected the first time around. Be persistent.

Thanks for the insights.

Thanks for all of your replies. It's comforting to know that there are quite few who made it in on the second go-around. I would really like to work for ACA, and had already decided to re-apply (futile effort or not) the moment I opened the dreaded envelope.

Only 173 days to go...

2nd time around

I was turned down the first time I interviewed. I made it to the sim when it was a J32 sim and didn't do a great sim ride. I had the minimum time required when I interviewed so I figured I would have to do pretty well. I didn't even re apply for two years and then I got the job. This time I actually spent some time in the AST 310 simulator. Previously I had never been in any sim.

Freightman,
With the low timers that ACA has been hiring lately, do you think that maybe you're over qualified? Maybe thats what happened.

BTW Airwhiskey is hiring!
