Hi.

My CEO just showed me an article on this subject...
Wilmington will be shut down-I'm not sure of the timeframe-they will keep it open for a time until UPS can completely take over.

UPS said their fleet will expand slightly, but their flying will expand more as they will utilize some aircraft both at night AND during the day-double runs to some locations, so they will definitely need more pilots.

Obviously, UPS won't acquire the ABX -9s, but they could want the -767s? UPS also used the -727s, but they're phasing them out so I don't know if they want any AStar 727s. I don't know the status of AStar/ABX flying on their own, or for other shippers, other than ABX has an ANA contract for some 767s in Japan.

It sounds like at least some of the ABX/AStar pilots will be out of work-sux. Hopefully some of them can get on at UPS.

PS-We fly -9s, out of YIP and ABQ, and our experience level is way down. If you want to find out about us, PM me with your email. We are looking at MD-8x series aircraft.

DHL is moving all its US flying to UPS. ABX will lose that business.

Well there lots of guys with plenty of DC9 experience down here. Appreciate the gesture.
