I think ABX's management would intergrate the operations. I believe the pilot's contract at ABX would make that necessay. The two operations would be fenced while the intergration of the operations, to include the seniority lists took place. My guess is the pilots at the purchased carrier would be frozen/grandfathered into their seats for a period of time. I don't know how an integration of seniority lists would be worked out, but I doubt they would simply be stapled to the bottom of the list ala AA/TWA. Once the fencing period and intergration of lists was complete then seniority would prevail with respect to upgrades, furloughs, bumping rights etc.
Just a quick note. When Polar was purchased by Mike Chowdry (Atlas Founder), the plan was to transfer the landing rights and some of the planes to the holding company and then liquidate the rest. Chowdry killed himself in his L-39 and the replacments couldn't pull off the transfer. The Japan rights are tied to the Polar Certificate. The China ones aren't as tough.
Bottom line, if a deal goes thru with Polar, the Polar certificate must remain active to excercise the Japan rights.
As for merging, good luck. Just take a look at some of the Atlas-Polar hate threads to see what you'll have to deal with.
