why would Astar want ABX when they could buy Kitty Hawk, own 17, 72's and 7, 737F's. Then they could ramp up faster. DHL could accelerate their taking away of cities from ABX, make Astar the the sole provider for DHL and realy piss away market share. I have management written all over me. Who has Rolf Büttner's email address a mind like mine is a terrible thing to waist.

Look at Kitty Hawks stock price .32 per share. It has a market cap of 17Mil. Offer 20 million get 24 airplanes. Thats less than $850,000 per plane. Hell there are piston singles that cost that much.I know I can sell this idea to the Germans.

Not much is of the fleet is company owned. Old mix-mash. The 73s only have value if you want to buy alot more. Where is the value? Probably real estate (if they have any) and the certificates. This is true even if they are the US distribution portion of the big ANA plan.

Don't entirely discount the possibility that ABX was directed to make the purchase prior to the Astar/DHL purchase. More likely though, Kitty Hawk and Pace are part of Hete's survival plan if DHL doesn't get right with God on the ACMI mark ups.

Just to throw another wrench in things, the "ABX is gonna buy Kitty Hawk" rumor has been floating around again now for a while and now this press release is issued. Among other possibilities, they mention that selling the company is one potential option.

who has the buz saying ABX and Kitty, financial boards or crew room? Seems Box, is right and think ASTAR would jump at that deal. Heck, ABX should jump on it for the 737's if DHL were not playing the jackass and possibly questioning the future of ABX and DHL work. Sell ASTAR the 727's, and everyone works together again as 2 airlines. ahhhh, I better stop before someone insults me for thinking scenarios in words again.

Not that it has anything to do with anything, but the Kitty Hawk VP of Flight Ops was at ABX, and was an Asst Chief Pilot to boot.

It might not have anything to do with it, but that is interesting. Why would someone leave ABX to go to the Kitty? That had to be a downward move, even if he got the VP job there. hmm....

He left 2-3, or more perhaps, years ago, he was VERY junior on the seniority list and was one of the DC-9 Chief Pilots. Kitty Hawk looked fairly good at that time.

Just something to stew on..... I have been thinking about it for awhile.

Isn't it interesting that ANA has said nothing about all this talk of a merger. Not a peep. You would think that if they were worried about losing ABX as a provider they might have said something. Maybe they have been let in on the "blueprint" that Hete has, maybe they know the big picture. I have no insider info, just thought I would throw it out there. One other thing.. Could they be the ones that steered us in the direction of these alleged Air China 767'S..

One other thought to stew on... If we bought Kittyhawk.. ANA isn't the only large operator that we work for,Aeromex loves us. If we could give them another 767, they would take it... Maybe we distribute for both companies in the US. Think about all the products that come out of China and Japan that are assembled in Mexico and other Latin America countries.... Again no info to back it up, just something to think about....
