Keep hearing rumors that ABX is looking at some 70 series 8's. Don't know what to think of that.

Job security for you?

Bye Bye--General Lee

Heard directly from Crawford that they were in fact looking at 70 series to put in MIA due to the fact that on some of their SA charters the profit margins are razor thin using the -63. With the price of fuel the way it is, he said that they could make at least a little money in a 70 series. If ABX gets 70 series it brings up the old problem of Innes' hard on for non-standard aircraft in ABX's fleet. Crawford said they would probably have dedicated crews to fly it.

Vollmer said that ABX has contacted ALL the furloughees and given them conditional recall notices to see how many would be interested in coming back. He said the current proffer would probably go insufficient and that they are in fact calling everyone that they had in their hiring pool the last time they hired back in 01.

Seem like they may have a hard time filling the class. Junior manning is still rampant, especially on the DC-8. A DC-8 captain friend of mine said that he has been called on every one of his days off to be junior manned.

Rampant? No. Too common, yes. So far we've seen nothing like the junior manning that we had back in 1998 and 1999.

They're always looking at airplanes. I wouldn't get too excited until they actually buy some.
