The insurance company said it would delay filing its annual report after it discovered improper documentation for controversial transactions with a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. unit at the center of several government probes.
AMR Corp., up 98 cents at $10.91
Shares of the parent company of American Airlines benefited as the carrier forecast a rise in unit revenue in the first quarter. Merrill Lynch upgraded its rating on the stock.
Morgan Stanley, up $1.67 at $55.28
Two of the firm's principal managers quit after chief executive Philip Purcell named two other executives to serve as co-presidents above them.
Hewlett-Packard Co., up 32 cents at $22.10; NCR, up $1.61 at $33.01
The company confirmed it had picked former NCR Corp. chief executive Mark Hurd as president and CEO effective Friday.
