---MAINTENANCE SERVICES BEGINS ALLEGIANT AIR CONTRACT---
American Airlines Maintenance Services and Allegiant Air have signed a
four-year comprehensive maintenance agreement, valued at more than $30
million and covering a variety of services. The contract calls for
American to provide "Heavy C" checks for Allegiant's current fleet of 24
MD80s plus additional MD80 series aircraft as Allegiant grows. Carmine
Romano, Vice President - Tulsa Maintenance Base, said the contract
represents another step toward becoming a World Class Maintenance Repair
and Overhaul provider, "and that is very important to our employees, our
customers and our stakeholders." Dennis Burchette, Vice President of
Transport Workers Union Local 514 in Tulsa, said, "A long-term contract
such as this one demonstrates that Allegiant has great confidence in
American's maintenance personnel to perform quality work in a timely
manner. The company will not be disappointed." See the press release on

A big improvement....

...over the MX from TIMPCO.

AA does a nice job and the planes come back in mucher better shape now than from the previous vendor.

If you viewed the show, "A week in the life with American Airlines", It was very impressive how they changed their system of breaking down an MD80 in 12 - 13 days vs. 20 days. Moving the planes from one work station to another in stead moving personnel to the aircraft was a great idea.

It should be a good deal for both airlines.

They are going to have there hands full when they have to fix the POS MD's we (Alaska) are selling (Rumor) to allegiant. Good luck with that!
