Took the following from Yahoo Finance:
" American chairman and chief executive Donald J. Carty apologized Friday for not telling the unions sooner about the bonuses, which would have been paid to seven executives, including Carty, if they stayed through January 2005.
But the company left in place the partial funding of the supplemental pensions, without disclosing how much it paid out. The pensions would be protected if American files for bankruptcy, according to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission."
How do people feel about this (kinda rhetorical question)? Sure, they give up their bonuses, but they still have a great safety net that wasn't disclosed until late... Meanwhile flight attendants who earn less than 20K have ZERO safety net. This situation at AA (and Delta - similar executive distrust situation) makes me SICK!!!!!!
So, should the unions go along with this or should they press for more changes to executive package? What would you do? Do AA pilots have a choice in the matter now that they have already voted for the package?
