We can’t thank enough for the sacrifices made by those who wear the uniform are do our countries bidding. Whether you believe in our leader’s policies and decisions, I feel we have to stand behind the men and women who serve. I’ve had the privilege to serve and sacrifice, and I appreciate it when others acknowledge us. I want to take a few moments and acknowledge my brethren, active, reserve, and guard. About a year ago at a commander’s call, we were shown a video produced by the Nat’l. Guard Bureau. I don’t know if the purpose was to recognize and thank us for our service and sacrifice, or if it was to be a new recruiting tool, but it really touched me as capturing the heart and soul of what it means to serve. Unfortunately, it has not been released publicly as far as I can tell. Otherwise I would have gladly shared it with you. What I did find were some interesting items to share.

First off, here’s a press release that tells the story of the video.

Second, there’s a music video that the artist (Toby Keith) did release. In my opinion, it’s not as good, but at least it is available for me to share with you. I’m not a fan of country music, and those of you who are; are probably very familiar with his work and this piece.

I do have to say this, with the exception of the Dixie Chicks, most country artist stand and support us in the military. They seem to be able to differentiate between our government’s leaders, and the men and women who serve in the military. I may have to rethink my taste in music.

Enjoy the readings in my links and the video.
