I saw you registered today, and I tried to send you a PM.

Active Duty or Reserve C-9s??? Just curious if we know the same people.

The '9 community ain't dead yet...

Hey buddy, sorry I didn't catch the PM - I'm still learning this whole thing. Glad I caught your post!

I'm still an active duty guy for the moment - flying one of the last (if not *the* last) "A" models around the active force. All the rest are sitting at DM in a pretty little line soaking up the sun, except the few that the reserve unit at Scott is still hanging onto. I started flying 9's right out of pilot training here in Germany with the 75th, did some time with the mighty C-5's in California, came back to the 75th to fly 9's again, then moved across the ramp to fly around the DV model with the 76th. And AFPC always said you could never go back to the "one-time-good-deal".....

Rumor has it that we're keeping our '9 (876) for a few years to come - prob until the Air Staff coughs up the $$$ to buy USAFE their BBJ. Of course AFPC keeps telling us we're on our way out every year (and supposedly will even drop assignments on the 6 of us still here this March), so we'll see what happens. Until then, the nightingale is still flying strong, making jet fuel into noise with those Stage 1 JT8D's all over Europe.

Shoot me a note - always good to keep the "inbred" 9 community in touch. From the profile it looks like you've joined the real world and are enjoying life on the civie side of things - give me the run-down! Thinking about that route myself at the moment...
