It's really nice. They did a good job of blending technology for enhancing the control of the aircraft for the pilot as well as comfort for the passengers. I have found it to be very reliable and relatively free of maintenance issues. Passengers seem to really like it, although the galleys don't produce any better crew meals than the 727 did- and maybe not as good as then.

The only thing it won't do is fly as high as Falcon Capt's ride, darn it!

However true that may be, I'd take your ride over his any day of the week. With his, he has to make sure his "donut" is properly inflated for those 14 hour legs.

Who buys Prep H in volume? You or him??? :D

UAL 78,

Did the United ones come with proper bunks, or do they just give a crappy passenger seat to rest in?

A group of Boeing engineers came down to talk to us when I was in engineering school and showed us this video. It was funny to watch the handful of pilots in the room all gasp and wince together when the thing touched down. Everyone else, including the engineers, thought it was a normal crosswind landing.

We have about half and half. The ones that don't have bunks we use one first-class sleeper seat with privacy curtains. I actually prefer those, but I'm not a good sleeper on an airplane, bunk or seat (except in my seat about 25 mins. after a crew meal). Then I bet I could sleep on a bed of nails.

The -400 pilots say that the bunks on the 747 are more comfortable. I do know that the bunk on the 777 and the direction you're supposed to lay in it means your head is slightly lower than your feet because of the attitude in level flight.

I guess this is a reality check- 40 years ago when I was a punk with a private license, I never dreamed I'd fly an airplane that actually had a bunk to sleep in- much less complain about it! So I'd better say I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world- and I am- and not just for my career fortunes.

FC with the Prep H, and me with the Depends!

Nothing beats the -400, bunks and toilet in the cockpit, gotta love it!!! You take off, then you hit the bunk for 7 hours...
