Did the lift dumpers work when you landed?

Yea... The only thing that didn't work were the flight spoilers.

The captain said something about a speed and altitude limitation. The PHL-LAS nonstop became a PHL-MCI-LAS flight.

I think the MEL altitude restriction is due to possible loss of pressurization, and the requiremnt to be able to get down within a certain timeframe. Most likely you were down in BE-1900 territory and that case they would been limited by their max IAS 330???, and not by their mach number so for the same reason their TAS should been a lot less.

Does the 757 use them to augment roll control? I can't imagine they would be MEL-able if they were used as a primary flight control.

Emergency decent criteria would be my guess for the airspeed and altitude limitation, too.
