Hi all. I just wanted to double check that my 61.58 check in a jet satisfies the BFR requirement. I was told the reason for this a long time ago and have since forgot and upon reviewing the FAR's, I can't find anything that says under 135 or 91 that it satisfies 61.56.

I've got 1 more month on my last BFR and just wanted to double check this.

Thanks!

The 61.58 is a REQUIRED check for turbojet aircraft.

Any REQUIRED check satisfies 61.56.

A proficiency check for any pilot privilege, certificate, or rating meets the requirements of a flight review. See 14 CFR 61.56(d)

It's still well to obtain the flight review endorsement in your logbook.

Flight review alternatives

Your proficiency check is very much a valid alternative to a formal flight review, pursuant to 14 CFR 61.56(d):

(d) A person who has, within the period specified in paragraph (c) of this section, passed a pilot proficiency check conducted by an examiner, an approved pilot check airman, or a U.S. Armed Force, for a pilot certificate, rating, or operating privilege need not accomplish the flight review required by this section.

But, as Avbug recommended, having your check also written up as a flight review may be appropriate CYA overkill, and is a recommendation I second.

Hope that helps some more.
