Long time listener, first time caller...

My question is this...does the 737 type rating I acquired in the sim (@ HPA in Dallas) qualify as a Flight Review and restart the 2-year clock?

Here are some sections from the FAR which "should" make it clear to me, but they don't.

61.56(c)(1) indicates the review must be flown in an aircraft.

61.56(d) discusses a pilot proficiency check conducted by an examiner...I'm not sure what that is. Did my Type checkride satisfy this?

61.56(i) allows for a flight simulator if the training center is certificated under part 142 of this chapter. Guess I can e-mail HPA to determine if they are.

I appreciate any help!

§ 61.56 Flight review.

(d) A person who has, within the period specified in paragraph (c) of this section, passed a pilot proficiency check conducted by an examiner, an approved pilot check airman, or a U.S. Armed Force, for a pilot certificate, rating, or operating privilege need not accomplish the flight review required by this section.

Maybe someone can back me up, but it appears that your clock was restarted when you did your type.

OH, and welcome!

Does your pilot certificate now have a new entry for the 747 in the "ratings" area?

If so, that takes care of your flight review requirements for the reason JB74 said.

I apparently got lost in all the commas and didn't keep reading all the way to "rating." Yes, I did get a new rating...just want to be certain that flying it in the sim was adequate.

Thanks!

Yes, it does count since it was a rating that was added to your ticket and you are now good for the additional 24 months.

3 5 0

Does your pilot certificate now have a new entry for the 747 in the "ratings" area?

ps>>> the 37 and 47 are most definitely NOT a common type. One has two engines and one has four engines if that is any indicator.
