So I walk into the local FBO looking for some Jeppesen Approach Charts (been a while since I've had to buy them), and was shocked that the price has gone up to $50. This was for the North-Central airway manual express, good for 56 days.

I remember these things used to be about $20.

Anyone know where to get them cheaper?

I was trying to find some last week and I couldn't find any at 3 different airports in the Phoenix area. One guy that ran a pilot shop told me that Jeppesen is upping their prices on those and making them less available because they want people buying subscriptions instead of buying the express packs and then keeping them forever until they need new ones for a checkride or something. Just a way to make more money off of us.

I'm going to switch to NOS charts, their a lot cheaper. However, if you must have the Jepps don't forget that you can download the charts you need from AOPA (if you are a member).

No you can't.

They only have NOS

You can call JEPP for them...

I just received the southeastern express pack GA, SC, and NC
for $38 plus shipping. It was $35 two years ago. The only way you can get the express pack (several states in an area) is to call them 800-621-5377.

Check the web for the details www.jeppesen.com

Good Luck!

My mistake TDTURBO, I thought they were Jepp's. The NOS charts seem to have improved since the last time I used them, and you can't beat the price.

I ran into the same thing last week, I stopped by the local Pilot Shop where I was informed that without any prior notice Jeppesen just stopped shipping product.

I paid $25.00 for the last trip kit, I logged on to Jepp's site and that same trip kit is now $48.00 plus shipping and they take 2-3 days to ship! (they will expedite for an additional $25.00 though, what a deal!)

So because they got greedy it would now cost almost $100.00 to get this by the time I need it.

I guess I'll go back to the NACO charts again.

NOS has improved

I can get an annual subcriptioin of plates for the southern part of CA for $19.95.

The whole country for a year ..... $327.60!!

Used Jepp. all the time until I had a last minute flight I wanted to make and my jepps had just expired.(express pack)

Only recommendation is to get the NOS charts that come loose and buy the rings to keep them together for $4 bucks.

The booklets is harder to use when you're actually flying.

Still use expired Jepps for MS flight sim.

:D

just to stay familiar with them...
