I really want to join ANG/ANR with the eventual role of going fighter. I realize that if I get in I might not get it at first, but anything would be fun I believe.

My question is: What can I do while working on my 4 yr degree to improve my chances?

I am joining the CAP(I know it the boyscouts with wings) but I will be flight actve in less than 3 months, and the squadron commander is a f-16 GUARD driver. I figure that might help, knowing someone who has already been there and done that.

Ive read most of the other post on going guard or going reserve yadda yadda... So I'm just asking what are some good tips on stuff to do BEFORE I get my BA.

Thanks in advance.

PS U cant fly if u only have an AA can u?

Enlist in the unit that you want to fly in. BUST YOUR ASS and make a reputation for yourself. Meet the pilots and get to know some of them. Talk to those "in the right places" (operations) and let them know of your goals. In the mean time, build some quality flight time and get as many ratings as you can.

I strongly suggest enlisting. Fighters are very hard to get into in some places. Besides, the guard will pay for your school...

Good luck.

That is what I was thinking of doing... I hear sometimes it's who u know. Just liek most things in life....
