This is a very busy airplane. Im still getting more details but ill let you guys know when I get all details. So far it sounds like 8 on 6 off.

How does an 8 on 6 off...work with 3 pilots? I can't make that work in my head..., though it may be very simple.

Thanks

I was thinking the same thing. I have seen 8/4 but I have tried to make an 8/6 work with 3 pilots and I can not get it to work without having the plane only maned by 1 pilot for 8 days a month.

So Riddle, does that mean your out? Did they hire Grampa instead of you or is he pilot #2 and your pilot #3?

Im out they hired granps.

The whole 8 on 6 off thing was said in passing. We did not progress very far down the road of offering a job. Had we progressed farther I would have pressed harder for more details.

I interviewed at this company a year and a half ago and the chief liked me but the owner went with a guy who was already typed. The plane got really busy and and they want a 3rd guy so the chief just called me and asked if I was still interested. The owner screwed us again and went with his 74 year old buddy.

How much you wanna bet that you were undercut in terms of salary?

See, a 74 year old pilot can draw his full Social Security check AND work full-time. So the owner, being able to work a spreadsheet goes "YEAH, I'll pay him less since he's getting full Social Security as well!" and he gets to 'help' a buddy by giving him another sense of purpose in life.

Someone should call ALPA - maybe they can use this guy as a poster gramps to raise the retirement age to 80. :D
