I know that there are much bigger problems in the world right now, such as high cost of oil, the situation in Japan, SWA, Delta, USAirways East vs. West, but is there a TSA rule for international jumseaters or non-revs (flying back to the US) restricting them to the same liquid rule as regular pax?

I was flying back to the US from Mexico this week and had a tough time getting the items in my toiletry bag through security; it was quite annoying. I was told that even in uniform I have to comply with the TSA 3-1-1 rule unless I am a working flight crew member, regardless of my status (j/s). I heard the same is true when flying back from Europe. Is this true or is the local security officer suffering from the Gestapo syndrome?

Never had an issue out of Europe (Spain, Germany, Italy), even when not wearing uniform, and using the crew line. At least over there our credentials is what matters, not what one is wearing!

Our latest bulletins say that Mexico, is even enforcing the rule for working crew members.

Yes, the regular passenger restrictions apply if you are jumpseating or non-revving internationally, even in uniform. I'm sure there are some ways around it, but I've had to deal with this every time from destinations in Asia and Australia.

I put on the uniform just to deadhead home from Frankfurt with 2 750ml bottles of booze in my carry-on luggage. They let me through.
