Is it wrong to say that there are no great 135 jobs. Yes they'll hold you over, but can you have a life.
In my humblr opinion,
major airlines #1
major corp. #2
freight #3
135- till something better comes along.

I don't think there's much point in ranking different types of flying - there are too many subjective variables involved. You can discuss pay, schedule, or whatever, but people have their own priorities and flying preferences, and what's best for one person may not be best for another.

I agree exactly with BigD... Too many variables and too many different preferences...

I love my Corporate job... I wouldn't trade it for a seat at the majors... I fly excellent equipment all over the world... plus I get to fly with a very good friend of mine (who was even a former student of mine). We can bid trip we want and go to the places we want.

I think each individual has to choose whats right for him/her and pursue that route.

Well 10 years ago I would have agreed with you,but now maybe not. I have spent 38 years at a major and ended up with a sen.# that is a single digit working 18 days a month. Have friends that gave up the left seat at majors and gone to(or back)to corp. and not only enjoy it more, but make the same money and have a great life. I am now looking for a good corp. job that most of all I will enjoy. Be careful what you wish for,121 international flying does take a toll on you.

Beware....
Pt 91 corp Intl can take a toll on you also! My particular company does apprx 75% Intl at this time.

7-14 day trips around the world can wear on one quickly, throw in a demadng client and less that favorable stops (Mideast, Indonesia), long rides in traffic to hotels, very early shows, getting in too late to find decent food, schedule changes, crew swaps, 13-14 hr legs.....it all adds up.

I say its whatever suits YOU. I would not trade the type of flying we do for any major job, but thats just my taste! Im sure there are many whose lifelong goal is to fly for Southwest Airlines and fly a 737 from Dallas to Florida all year. I would hate it, others dream of it...

Most importantly is to go where YOU would like, not where the money or the "percieved" stablility is....

Heh, I've been waiting for them to add a Duchess to the fleet. I'd be flying all the execs that the company hates!

lol....

Yeah Falcon Capt,

What a great deal....get to wear dockers and polo shirts in the summer!! Lucky guy!

Well it is a good deal... except it is PFT....

You have to make out all the "training checks" personally to me... uh... it is because of a complicated tax law... trust me, just make out the checks to me! :D :D

::scribbles out a check to Falcon Capt::

There you go! Now when do I start? Oh, and do me a favor...don't cash that check until about 2075. Thanks!:p

OH NO, NOT PFT!!!!

This thread had gone to $hit!!

I just wanted to dress casual, its a little warm to wear a suit to work!

and hey...If Im PFT'ing....screw the casual attitre, I want full blown bars and hats...I want to LOOK like the pilot I paid to be....

:D :D

How about if YOU pay for the training, and I'll help offset the cost of the graduation barbecue.

I'd like to personally congratulate our new hire, Jergar999! BBQ wins everytime!

Come to think of it, BigD took me out to the Salt Lick down in Austin... HHmmmm...

Decisions, Decisions...

WHOA!!!! HOLD ON THERE PAL!

Since it looks like we've got some serious bidding going on here I'l up the ante.

A) I've got the time and the type.

B) YOU get a free BBQ dinner at my expense every month for 12 months. (Customary PFT duration)

C) If you do ever get to meet Big D's sister, I won't tell :p .

I'll do just about anything to lose this dang tie for the summer.
