Just gathering opinions. I have the opportunity to upgrade in a lear 25 to captain. OR take a job at ASA. I am thinking it would be nice to have the 1000 hours of PIC, but seniority is a nice thing to have.

Oh, and by the way, I am 38 so the majors might not even be an option for me. (for those pushing the 1000 PIC).

Thanks for the opinions.

I like your avatar...I want it!!

It was too cold outside to finish our conversation today.

First, it is a QUALITY OF LIFE question for you and your wife to decide.

As you now, my opinion is 1000 PIC Turbine and then make the switch to obtain 121 Time. Both are valuable and both are looked upon favorably.

(1) Can you afford such a pay cut??
(I know who your employer is, so the answer is yes :( Sorry).

(2) Where do you want to be? You could possibly still have a 20 year career SOMEWHERE.

(3) Domicile?

(4) Equipment?

(5) What is "your prize"?? I have a friend that is always making the comment "keep your eye on the prize" -- he is referring to that fabulous flying position you can retire from in X-Number of years. So, what is "your prize"?? Corporate? Pax? Scheduled freight (FedEx, UPS, etc. NOT what we do!!)

(6) What would happen if your are furloughed? GASP. Besides the obvious, are you employable? The lear type was the reason I found a position as soon as I did after I was furloughed. What do you bring to the table??

Take care & Fly Safe

See you tonight in the snow!!
