Hi all:

I work for a PART 91 GIS company; My boss want to convert it to 135 to be able to work internationally. I guess the first step is to come up with an OPS manual. Where can I start? I have lotsa time in my hand this summer and like to write up an OPS manual, any samples out there? we operate VFR on twin pistons ...

Any help is appreciated

Why do you think that you need a 135 certificate to work internationallly? A 135 certificate is only needed if you're going to engage in common carriage. Aerial Survey is not Common Carriage. I used to be in the Aerial Survey busisness, and I knew of plenty of comapnies which did international operations (including my company) and none had 135 certificates. You have to be careful that you have the proper authorizations for flying in that country, but I've never heard of a requirement for a 135 certificate.

Biggerr project than it sounds. Many funny little things creep up during the process.

Friend of mine tried the starrt a 135 operation...

Now he lives in an alley, drunk, urinating on self.

Seriously, though, it is a BIG project. Sample Ops Manual on at leat one FAA site. Yours will need to be at leat twice as thick as the sample. Don't forget the training manual, and writing the compliance statement takes forever, too.

Check out advisory circular 120-49. (I think)
