Anyone know how to find out about jumpseating on the airlines if working under 135? I know that my company doesnt have any agreements, so only ATA I think takes all 135 guys. Can I check availability tonight if I want to jumpseat tomorrow morning to say, DFW?

Any specific # to call, etc to list?

Thanks.

Try: 1-866-LIST-ATA

I wrote this number down about a year ago after reading it on a thread from this forum. I've never tried it, but its worth a shot.

What kind of ID, documentation ,etc. is required to get through security? Not sure how the whole process works.

It helps to have a sida badge. If you have a sida badge and a company ID, just show it to your friendly TSA agent and cruise right on through. You may have to explain that you are jumpseating and you don't have a ticket. I have never had a problem, even with the little hillbilly company I work for. I have never jumped on ATA, so I don't know if you need to check in first. Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Anyone have anything else that may be helpful?
ATA will take all part 135 pilots with the proper credentials on your person, great group of people and they will go out of their way to ensure that you are comfortable. Call the number listed in the above after 7pm, list, and you are set. You won't have a problem getting through airport security since you will be issued a gate pass at the ticket counter. I would frequently j/s ATA on many different occasions when I was a captain at Ultimate Jet and never once did I encounter any problem of any sorts. All of the ATA people that I have met over the years were all very friendly and went above and beyond what I had anticipated and expected.

You can also j/s on Polar and some of the other cargo and freight carriers. Some specific and unique guidelines are set up and in place so check into them prior to just showing up. Probably won't be of much help in getting you into "Cowboy country" though....:p
