hey guys

i am a little confussed i wanted to ask you a question.

HOW OFTEN DOES A 121 PIC HAVE TO HAVE A P.C

in the atp book it stated that

A pilot in command must have completed a proficiency check within the preceding 12 calendar months, AND in addition, within the preceding 6 calender months, either a proficiency check or simulator training.

so my question was How often does a 121 pic have to have a P.C the answer would be 12 calender months right, someone told me its 6 months

what do you guys think

peace

How about I throw another wrench into the equation? At Alaska Airlines (as well as some other 121 operators) we don't use a PC/PT based training program. We use AQP, so technically we NEVER do a PC. (At least we don't call it that...;) )

At Delta, we went every 12 months. Not sure how they managed that legally as at one time we went every 6 months. Of course, it's cheaper to train less so if you can get the FAA to let you do it less often...that's what you do.

guys,

i just want to know what the FAR states the right answer is 12months or 6 months.

The simple, by the FARs answer is the PC is required once every 12 months and some form of training, PC, recurrent flight training, etc., is required at the other 6 month interval.

Having said that, it depends on the op specs for each carrier as to how they comply with training requirements. The FAA provides oversight and final approval over each carrier's training program (and everything else). Some carriers have approval for other types of programs as has been mentioned which satisfies the FAA.

Peace,

Well, there's the FAR and there is the application of the FAR. They may be two different things. Why did Delta only send us every 12 months...dunno. Wish I could answer your question. Prepare to go every 6 months and you'll be OK.
