It is their platform, so I suppose they can choose to charge whatever they see fit. However, I can choose to use the Windows-based importer that was around long before the online importer existed and thereby not support their new revenue stream while enjoying identical functionality. Cheers!
Don't get me started. Where I am based, we had our line-jumping privileges yanked earlier this year, and there are no employee lines beyond the ID checkers. Presently, my "CrewPASS NOW!" sticker is nothing more than ironic.
I used to fly with a guy who always asked for direct by saying, "If it helps you out, we can go direct to..." One day, the controller responded, "It doesn't help me out one bit, but if you want, you're cleared direct to..."
For the expiration, that sounds right. Or you could look on the certificate for the expiration date. :) I'm afraid I'm not the guy to ask for your other questions, but someone should come along to answer them pretty soon.
There should be plenty of responses. Personally, I've used the Gleim FIRC and ACR service the last three times I've renewed, and I plan to do so next time as well. It's a painless process, and their customer service has always been top notch.
