Yeah! Thats why I called it a problem! :) I think that there should be teared FO pay too. The problem is many people don't. Some think that since new hires don't choose which aircraft they are assigned to, it wouldn't be fair to have different pay.
If you ask me, its more important to have...
wow..good effort. I was a couple pennys off. Our next contract should boost the FO pay hopefully. The problem is that it will still be flat pay. Its gotta be tough to come up with a FO scale competative accross the 35-86 seat market. My guess is $35-$37 in the next TA....if we all live that long.
That is true. 2nd yr at RAH is $30 vs. $34 at a few others. Hopefully that will be addressed in the next contract. However, I'd rather make $4 less for one year, but then spend 5 years at $10 more as captain.
The catch is that RAH has a flat FO scale. The $30 is above average for 35-50...
Hey wise guy. The real reason why the pay is so bad at the regionals is because we have no other choice. I just have one question for you. Would you rather be at ASA,PSA,Eagle, or AWI waiting 4-7 years to make in the upper $50 bucks an hour, or have come to RAH within the last year and make $70+...
I hope the COA guys are able to hang on to it. However, I was under the impression that scope relief is not up for vote. Instead, it's up to the MEC to decide.
Don't forget about the 70 E175s they just ordered. 2009 delivery. Thats why BB was out of country for a couple days. ExpressJet is gonna be pissed about this one....
Well sure, there has been good times and bad. There were times when one would only spend 2-3 years at a commuter, and there were times when 8 years was normal.
My point is just that many people sat in Dashes and other turbo props against their wishes, hoping for a better job. Sure, I don't...
...is how the guys who were willing to drive around a J31 for 8 years at $30 bucks complain about the young "shinny jet" pilots. I'd bet if they had the chance to fly an RJ back then, 100% of them would be doing the same ******************** we are...for probably even less just to get out of the...
Pay at the regionals will never increase much. Maybe a dollar here, a dollar there, but don't expect a light at the end of the tunnel. As soon as the regional can't staff the RJs, they'll park them and life will continue.
Even though just 5 dollars more a ticket spread accross the flight...

I don't think this threat from the FAA is only limited to a few busy airports. This seems to be a system wide push.
That would be the cheapest and easiest solution to some problems. It is silly to see how empty the night hours are.
I wonder if the FAA will just increase the required connection times first. Sure it wouldn't change the congestion, but the delays would have less of a impact on passengers...
What do you think they'll do? Will they force airlines to schedule flights earlier and later in the day/night?....or.......<gasp>...cut the number of RJ flying?!?!?!
Those are the only real options I see...
I love the idea.
Blows my mind how little the unions can actually do legally. However, managment can do just about anything legally (steal pensions, not pay hotel bills after exiting chapter 11, etc)
OK..I'll take a bite. Although I understand and like your points, but only you've only scrached the surface. The low pay blame doesn't belong to low timers who "take the jobs". The pay has always been low regardless of flight experience required. To say that the reason that regional pay is so...
