    Red Coach bus service

Great Lakes wanted to do a bus from CYS-DEN. You would check in at the airport, go through TSA, drive to DEN and be let out in the secured area just like an aircraft. We made all the obvious jokes about adding a CDL to our license, a greyhound type rating, etc. The story ends with TSA...

Accelerating 737 from Airtran to SWA

That's right we work at AirTran! The best airline ever. Look 12 days off next month. 5th year FO gets 97 an hour with all 12 days off. Suck it SWA you can't handle this awesome. Hey Delta I see your 115 an hour and lower 20 bucks! We are ALPA!!!!

SWA/AT traffic way off in ATL

Wait. I see. You then expand. Multiply that by 4 airlines and suddenly those routes get real thin. Profits dwindle and airlines go bankrupt. Almost like a cycle that's in every text book. Good job smart guys you just cut our wages, lost our profit sharing, and allowed Spirit to grow and...

AirTran pilots. Was Mad Dog a scab?

Wait the bet that you will be gone Nov.-Dec. 2013 is still on the table? Gimme some of that action, I'll wager the house max on that one!

Accelerating 737 from Airtran to SWA

The only planes at AirTran on Dec. 28 will be 717s. I didn't hear that from anyone I just looked at the SWA fleet and did some critical thinking.

    United pilots want Smisek OUT...

United is only losing money because of the fuel hedge. Once the hedges run out United will be profitable.

No growth at SW until 2016 now

Clearly you don't fly on the Airtran side of the fence. It is common knowledge over here that SWA will be bankrupt in the coming years. Here is a short list of the reasons: 1. Single Engine Taxi: sure you do it now but not enough. 2. International: SWA can't and never will be able to fly...

    Southwest new hire pay

No code share on anything a 737 can do? The only hope we have is growth. The only growth to be had is international. I'm not willing to outsource our only hope hope for growth. Sure Mexico is nice but why give up on Europe, Asia, etc.?

No growth at SW until 2016 now

PNCL I noticed your posts are up. Are you flying on reserve now or just bored?

    SWA hiring more.

My seniority shows us at 7944 pilots on the graph thingy. I looked at the master list posted 1/9/13 which has all hires as of 3/14/12 which is 7965. In 2013 were there any more classes? In 2014 is the rumor still 500?

    SWA hiring more.

I'm asking about 2010 vs today. Right after the announcement SWA did 200ish? 400 in 2014 (is that right)? 2013 I think there was a 200. It all blurs together and five years is longer on the memory than it used to be. The number in my head is 600 but Waves 800 also sounds good. Just trying...

    SWA hiring more.

Anyone know the post merger hiring total on the SWA side?

    Will Great Lakes Survive?

...increasing pilot pay? The other day I took a cab from my overnight hotel 20 minutes to the French Quarter for $33 dollars. A guy driving a mini van got payed 33 dollars for 20 minutes. Yet an FO at the regionals needs to drive a ********************ing jet an hour to get 33 dollars. Just...

is 40 to 45 too old to get hired at a major?

Pilots kill me with their logic. I would hire 62 year olds all day long. I train you for a small cost, most of which is fixed, I own the sim and salary the instructors. Then for one year you work for half pay, no 401K, no sick time and minimal vacation. Then for two years you work like a...

    Cockpits still not adequately protected?

Agree. A group of terrorists who have spent years training, have the element of surprise, and are prepared to die; wouldn't stand a chance against a guy who took a weekend course on cockpit security. Hey if it was navy seals with bare hands how many would it take to overcome an FFDO? I would...

government accounting office say's "no pilot "shortage."

50K signing. 20 days off guaranteed. Waive first year pay. Captain override. Base of my choice with positive space commute paid as DH. Travel bennies. I think that would make me consider a regional. Kind of a part time, stay at home dad, "look I'm an airline pilot" type job. You would...

    AAI to SWA Training Schedule

It sounds like a paid vacation wouldn't work for you. I understand this, and so does SWA. They have a program for guys that enjoy flying and suck at free time, it's called transition. You simply bid to go to SWA before 1/1/2015. All captains can easily obtain this exciting...

    AAI to SWA Training Schedule

Pilots can bitch about anything! "Here's 11000 dollars to do nothing. Enjoy Thailand or wherever you choose to go with your time off" Pilot: "this is BS! You screwed me. I should get at least 12K to do nothing." It's a once in a lifetime opportunity! Grab the kids and go to New Zealand...

    SWAPA wins grievance with company

He said online. PNCL is on reserve. Reserve at AirTran is a zone of self discovery when you discover what you would do if you didn't have to work. Some of us do side gigs, parenting, hobbies, etc. Others of us talk about ALPA. Which brings us to the disconnect. If you do hobbies...
