Question Which microfiber towels do you use?

I’m in the south. Plenty of bugs.

A look at FlySto.net - amazing tool for flight analytics

Yeah, but if my phone were sufficient for me size-wise, no different than a tablet. I’ve thought of doing that myself.

Yes and no for me. For much of the enroute environment I often turn my iPad screen off. It depends a little on which modern glass avionics, but for instrument approaches, I generally prefer the approach plate on the tablet and viewing the flight plan page on the GPS.

Question Which microfiber towels do you use?

We rotate ours. I’m in a flying club where we clean off the bugs after every flight. In the hangar we have a “Clean” and a “Dirty” box. When “Clean” starts getting low, the “Dirty” get laundered. We”ve been doing it this way for 7 years with no problem.

Question Which microfiber towels do you use?

    I’ve never noticed a difference.

Ah, that explains your use of the phrase. I don’t play with betas (with a few exceptions), but my Mini is far from being limited to ForeFlight.

Strange turn of phrase. Sounds like ForeFlight brands the iPad Mini or that it won’t work without ForeFlight (neither of which are accurate).

It’s very impressive. We had an IFR checkride failure and could see the errors and the reasons as they occurred.

    Aviation Videography

If you don’t want to DIY, the idea came from this guy. https://mypilotpro.com/aviation/ Especially the Rockler clamp that made all the difference. I’ve used it on the strut ring of a 172 as well as underwing on an Ovation. No doubt it will work with most everything. And for more placement...

I went with a similar concept for a tie down mount. . My tie down clamp went through a couple of iterations until it was good enough to handle the 180 KTAS of a Mooney Ovation

Instrument Training in a Tandem Aircraft

That's funny. I lowered my personal minimums for IFR departure just last month.

FYI New Medical Deferral Process Beginning 2025

It's about what happens when a sport pilot (or pilot on BasicMed) decides they want to go beyond light sport privileges and obtain an FAA medical. Upgrade aircraft. Get an instrument rating. Whatever their reason is. Currently (although there is some disagreement about this), a sport pilot who...

Instrument Training in a Tandem Aircraft

I do IPCs for a friend in his Husky. It’s a challenge. My EFB’s “glass panel” page helps but it’s still difficult. But in my case, my friend knows what he’s doing. When he upgraded his panel, it was a little more like initial instrument training. Extremely difficult because avionics errors...

Question Manifold pressure first or Propeller first - after takeoff?

Taught wrong? Maybe. Misunderstood is more likely. All one has to do is look at an airplane manual, even an old one, for a constant speed prop to know that “over square” is only a problem when they are way off. Prop first to increase/MP first to decrease is the same. It’s to avoid things...

Question Leave mixture "set" on landings or go full rich?

That's why I asked about the context of the statement earlier.

Question Leave mixture "set" on landings or go full rich?

Here's one of Mike's seminars on YouTube. He discusses approach and landing without going full rich. I linked to the beginning of the discussion of descent and landing. If that link doesn't work, it begins about 1:17:00 in. And yes, it's maintain EGT through the descent and landing and only go...

Question Leave mixture "set" on landings or go full rich?

What was he talking about at the time? Mike often talks about knowing the best power EGT number and setting the mixture for that rather than blind adherence to “mixture rich.” It’s in effect what is done for landing at high D-Alt airports (although most locals are guesstimating landing throttle...

Question Manifold pressure first or Propeller first - after takeoff?

On the climb to cruise, I leave MP full and back off the prop a bit for noise and vibration, Yay Savvy.

    Inability to move traffic

I have had no problems with the quality of ATC.
