Anybody heard anything? Rumor is both parties are signing confidentiality agreements and one of the reasons swa deferred airplanes was to save cash for the deal.

Can I get a hit of whatever you've been smoking today?

Delta will never let anyone else have Alaska. As soon as someone else makes a move, Delta will pay any amount of money to get them.

Staple the AS pilots..Yeah!! I kid, I kid. Lots of good friends over there. Very high quality group of guys and gals. This combo has been discussed before. As a matter of fact, since I've been in the business, there have been constant rumors regarding Alaska and pretty much everyone else.
However, it is curious that just a few months ago, Gary was beaming when talking about how the -800 was a "game changer" and was basically going to be our savior. I know he thinks farther out than a few months so something has definitely changed. He was and is well aware of fuel volatility.
Also, regardless of the amount of discord and heartache displayed on this board and others regarding the SLI between us and Airtran, from the outside looking in people are saying "Gee, that was easy!".
I also don't think it would take $2.3B to buy Alaska. That would suggest a hostile take over. This would have to be amicable. If there is value to be gained by a merger/acquisition, then the respective boards have a fiduciary responsibility to at least examine a proposal

Oh boy, this would be a doozy of a SLI. It would never happen. Like said, delta would do a hostile takeover.
