I posed this question on another thread, but it's a serious question and I thought I would start a new thread for it.

Now that the 7 on the MEC made that decision, the real question is what will get their vote to forward the next one?

Obviously, SWA has made clear their decision to take all economic incentives of the table. SWAPA has made clear that there won't be any movement in ALPA's direction. The only chance for a negotiated deal is one that is better for SWA pilots. Will the MEC, though, be willing to present a deal to their membership that has far less in terms of economics, less protections for trannies, and possibly less seniority?

This is not meant to piss anyone off. I'm genuinely curious...and concerned.

This seems like political suicide in the making! If the MEC were to present an AIP to the membership with less money, less protections and less seniority, they will literally have to move far away to escape the hate mail and flaming doo-doo on their doorsteps.

I would bet that alpa has told them to stick to there guns if it does not work out i am sure alpa has promissed the NC and mec jobs elseware. Ir is the rest that need concern

Hate to break it to you Slaquer.... But TapaTalk sucks!

What other choice do I have? Pprune has its own app. just going on line w/ my phone takes to long. Considering I am very lazy, I do not even want to type, I just use the goggle voice to type for me. :)

PS I am so lazy I did 150 trips this month w/ 4 days flown ( no sick calls)

I woulda banged in sick and flown 0 days.... August sucks!

AAI MEC are just trying to do their best for the pilot group. The fact that they are socially impressionable may be to the detriment to their group. Already with the AIP in principle off the table how many thousands of dollars have they already lost their pilot group over their careers. In the end, the it is not about the money chants do not pay the mortgages, or health insurance when you are retired. Just how many year five AAI pilots were able to put $42K in their retirement last year. Multiple that over your career and bingo if you do not put money into your retirement it is not going to grow. The family rate of health insurance for SWA employees is less than $220 per month, dental vision etc. Just saying you can fight all you want for seniority integration, and each step backwards is worth thousands. Just $42K a year early at 7% return, you do the math over your career. I know you have that ten percent B fund, figure out the difference. So if this is pushed into a delay it doesn't hurt SWA pilots in the end the same way it hurts every AAI pilot. Sorry bros don't take it personally you will be okay, if SWA didn't buy you you may be on strike this year.

Exactly why I asked my MEC to vote that PoS down. So that guys like you could not swing the vote of the scared few.

Ty, Kharma, Lear, and PCL are gonna love that schedule too. Sounds great for them.

Godspeed!

wait a minute I'm confused

I thought the MEC voted it down because that's what the membership wanted? Now, you're saying that if it weren't for you and a couple of swing votes it would have passed? Which one is it?

Doesn't really matter either way. They've already voted down the best offer they could have hoped for.

Gup

That's a good point about the problems faced by the AT MEC if they send out a worse AIP for a vote. I can't see them taking that risk.

Similarly, I'm wondering what SWAPA will do next. Having failed to deliver the staple they promised, at least up to this point, they have little room to manuever. Agreeing to an AIP less favorable to the SWA pilots than even the first attempt would likely risk a mutiny.

Where do both sides go from here?

Is this how you operate in your normal life? You just keep saying the same thing over and over again until you've convinced yourself you're right? Or, are you that starved for attention you have to keep fanning the flames with bad info.

I wish SWAPA would have been saying "STAPLE" from day one. They weren't. Why? Because they elected to take the high road against a bunch of greedy thugs. Look where that got them? They were warned. They threw you guys pizza parties, the company came up with catchy little slogans and bought you cookies and lanyards and then gave you a smoking hot deal of the century and all were wondering, "What Happened??!!!"

Well, that's what you get when you attempt to negotiate reasonably with unreasonable people. Done too much of that in my life to not have seen that coming. However, most here have not. So, now everyone who thought things were going to go well as long as we were generous and MORE than fair, just got their cherry popped by ALPA and the trannies. Trust me. The head shed is none too happy. And, they don't like having egg on their face. Good on you guys for giving everyone here the wake-up call they needed. Now, they are attempting to wrap their arms around a Southwest that is post integration and based on the feedback they're getting from all the REAL SOUTHWEST EMPLOYEES (not just pilots) it's not too pretty.

Polish up that crow fork, Gup. 'Cause you'll be eating a LOT of it. Watch out for the beaks and feet.

I'm being told by SWA pilots that SWAPA is now promising it's members that AT pilots will have to go through preferential interviews before integration. I'm not surprised; as I said earlier, SWAPA had backed themselves into this corner and had little room to move towards a compromise without risking a mutiny against SC.

On top of an arbitrated award? Good luck with that! This is getting crazy! Godspeed!

nindiri, you're lowering trolling to a new level. OYS/GLEE/Fubi is getting jealous! Or are you those guys too?
<shrugs>

I'm just repeating what SWA pilots like Roomwithaview are saying. If you disagree, take it up with them.

Don't let one of the trannies get to you. This is their bag. It's what they live for. The only promise I saw was that they might get preferential interviews. At this point I don't think that would help a lot of them. You know how the hiring committee looks upon malcontents. Even though you and I managed to slip under the radar.

I knew it had been discussed on the SWA pilots' message board, but this is the first time I've seen it made official.
