Richard Branson is doing what he does best, promote his BRAND. He makes a comment that he wants Sully and his Virgin brand gets free publicity around the world. He is the modern P.T. Barnum.

If I were Sully, I wold take the Virgin Galatic job. Ask for more money and you can be Branson's spokesperson. Just think if he was in charge of Virgin Galatic. Think about all the publicity. People who were concerned about safety would feel better knowing Sully was up front.

Remember, in business, it is all about promotion. If nobody knows about your product or service, your company will die.

Sounds like many of us are moving up a number.

Notably, Branson didn't offer the Flight Attendants positions

Sadly, Sully's pension plan was terminated during the BK proceedings.

Why do you think he had to start up that sideline business?
He will have a nice fat retirement from books, movies and personal speaking deals. I know all about the BK. My dad was one of the guys who had his retirement stolen from the same a-holes as Sully. Sadly, US Air will have absolutely nothing to do with Sully having a nice retirement.

Dude, I think everyone is aware that his airline pension is toast....

True, but as an senior ex-PSA pilot, Sulley and his fellow senoir PSA pilots recieved about $180,000 placed into a retirement account when USAir bought PSA. Junior pilots got something less.

I wasn't aware of that! Hopefully he didn't have it invested in Lehman Bros. As av8trinabarrel stated, for the real bucks, its all about the deals he makes outside of US Airways now. I wonder if any of the rest of the crew got enough of the Sulley stink on them to make some extracurricular dollars.

Not to be morbid, but Sully's "final departure" will be news some time in the future. Wonder where you'll be when you hear the news.

Well, you know when forgetten famous people pass away, the news usually announces their death. I meant it as a compliment as he's earned his place in history and it won't be long before he's forgotten. However, when he does pass on, the media will cover his passing. Like I said, not to be morbid, but just making a prediction.

Also, my comment about where you'll be - reference Kennedy's death or 9/11 for that matter.

Oh, and "He" wasn't looking over the crews of United and American on 9/11? I hate these statements.

For the love of god...who the hell woudl have landed that airplane on 54th Street that day? Please tell me.... Sully is a great pilot and an example to us all...but what options did the poor guy have when he lost his engine at 5000 feet AGL?

Burn or freeze to death?

The good Lord was looking over him and his crew when the incident occured. Thank God he chose to freeze to death in the Hudson. Would anyone have chosen differently?
