Any, something? Nothing? Union, please give us some info what so ever? Flow? Where are we on that one??? We started painting planes, are they going to be around? How many pilots did we lose this year so far and where is the end?
We would like some insights.
Thanks

This isn't the place for reliable news, duh! Code-a-phone is for actual MEC news. The industry doesn't know when the end is for the pilot shortage. We didn't lose as many piots as past months, as some bases actually have enough pilots to cover scheduled lines with 1 or more reserves. The flow is in discussion with mainline and mgmt, with no significant progression. The first painted plane, 838, is flying around the system. Hope you get a chance to pilot it, and let us know if it makes you feel better flying a newly painted plane. We hope it raises morale. NOT! All planes will be around for several years, since it takes a while to put out a bid and receive new planes with a backlog at Bombardier. The company is not saying anything about new planes or where the bid process is at. We MAY be the launch customer for the 90 seat DHC-8, yet to be named (possibly Dash-8 500). Maintenace is doing a great job at cleaning air conditioning systems. The planes with working APUs seem to be cooler this year. Some FAs actually add heat on the ground as the plane gets too cold. Go figure! We applaud this improvement, as well as the company buying air carts. Don't plan on a lav service in PHL or LGA as the agent sleeps more than a cat, and only comes with 1:5 calls to ops. Catering in PHL is sketchy with a 1:2 chance, although all other bases are 3:4. By the way, all odds posted are official Vegas odds which can be betted on at the Hooters Hotel sports book for a specific flight. The company would like us to sign a petition for China service. They don't support pilots, I don't support "US". Besides, our international service outside Envoy class sucks, I hope another carrier gets it. If I want to go to China, I would rather jumpseat on United or anyone else. The above opinions are NOT from the union, but a single FO, take them as a grain of salt or disregard for that matter. John and Doug will be out of the office this coming week, so don't expect to get ahold of either one of them.

flypics,

Not to be a smart alec, but if you want information from the union, don't post your request on FI, call your representative directly. If your rep isn't making your voice heard, recall him. I am digging these code-a-phones, they remind me of the good old days.

Does that new paint help hold 838 together?

The paint actually covers up the speed tape that is holding the plane together.

why would there be news at PDT when nothing ever changes? Maybe just Pammy's man for the month?

I think dumm bumsen applies, but I don't know ;). Shouldn't you be shtudying ze MD-11, mien liebe?

No news, no partying in the streets; more like the running of the bulls fearing we don't get trampled.

Ole!

You'll be the first to know. Keep shmilink...

This place sucks...

How's that for news?

Oh yeah...

Heybuddy can't understand why people are leaving. Neither can Shipwreck.

If scheduling would leave me alone I wouldn't mind the job. It's hard to say I love my job after the 19 duty day then only 8 hours of rest. Long story, don't ask.

19 hrs of duty???

Son, you need an ass whipping.....

I know I do!!! I was being nice to the CA and FA who wanted to go home. It was a ferry flight when I hit 15.5 hours. At 17 hours the ferry canceled. 2 hours to get to a hotel in PHL.

I promise you guys I stuck up for myself the whole time. I called Scheduling at the hotel and said "my rest starts now!"

When my CA told Scheduling we would sleep in the crew room I went right to the SYR flight and told Sched to put me on it. They then assured me that I would have a room. Look out for that PR in SBY!!!

Sig,
we have to work on your german. Had to read it twice in order to understand it.

Keep smiling

That CA ought to be pimp slapped. Anyone who would accept sleeping in the crew room is doing a diservice to the entire pilot group.

Kick him in the jimmy......

I KNEW IT! Dood, my German is almost as bad as my English. Besides, the dumm bumsen or whatever was taught to me by a certain Dutch nutcase we both know!

No news here.

WHAT THE FOXTROT??

PR! HE volunteered you to sleep in the crew room?

Oh, man. Not good. Not good at all...

I hope you caught a few naps during the day. Who wants to fly with an FO up for 19 hours? I would say I hope you got "something" from the FA, but since we only have at most 3 good lookin ones, I hope you didn't get anything in return. Some situations do dictate to help out the crew if they have long breaks off, but don't report on time the next day unless you have 12+ hours of good rest. Screw scheduling.

i guess i can top that with 20 hour day when they had the ice storm. they would not answer the phones and refused to cancel our flight. i guess we should've told them to eff off and just leave but i think all hotels in the area were sold out. closest was dover but that would require them to set up ground transporation which would've been way over their heads that day.

I have an interview coming up later this month. I think Piedmont will make a great way to return to the industry. I plan on being prepared for the grilling. The way things read, it looks like you're kind of short staffed. Any chance of holding a line straight out of IOE? Any tips on the better bases (QOL, ladies, etc.)?

Ahhhh yes, now I remember why I like posting here soooooo much. The wise-a$$ responses. The name comes from my skydiving-driving days. Thanks for noticing, though. The posts in this thread fondly remind me of the posts in the Colgan thread when I still worked there, just not quite so bitter. I guess Piedmont's scheduling department isn't as infuriating as Colgan's.

AftCG182, wy did you leave the industry? I see you have E-170 under A/C flown. Did you work at Repbulic?

I left for a few months due to the fact that IOE didn't go so well. The profiled/scripted flying at FlightSafety went well, along with the rest of ground school, but the free-form flying of the real world did not. I'm a stick-and-rudder type of guy and the automation ate my lunch. Unfortunately, I wasn't financially prepared for washing out of IOE. As a result I had to sell cars for a few months to put money back in my bank account. I have a two year old that needs to be fed. Now that I've saved up a little money I can get back to flying. I appreciate your question.
