The current paint scheme with the red, white, and blue looks professional and crisp. Why mess with a good thing?

Unimaginative!

How much did the marketing firm get paid to come up with that garbage?

I disagree. It is very interesting, but I wouldn't say it is unimaginative. If they stuck the old paint scheme on it then it wouldn't be new. This one is different, and the widget (triangle) at a angle on the tail is "new wave" I guess. A red widget may hint at a future merger. The rest of the plane (white and blue) make it look crisp and clean. I guess I would call it interesting, and seeing one in person will shape my overall opinion.

Bye Bye--General Lee

i like the current paintjob. always thought it was one of the cleanest looks out there. love the wavy tail flag.

oh well. wonder how long it will take to paint the whole fleet this time?

Delta is forever changed from what i admired when i worked for them. and even then the slide had begun under Ron Allen. might as well join the masquerade of formerly dominate and inspiring carriers.

it's all peanut fares and flip flops now...

Delta will pay for the new paint job by selling off Comair. If the paint shop moves as fast as they have in the past, they should complete the repainting of the fleet by the year 2020.

The General beat me to it....it apprears tha the new widget points NW, when viewed from the left side of the aircraft....hmmmm

How are your E190s doing in the shop down in Nashville?

The problem with the old (new) paint job was it was expensive to maintain. that's why they went with this new livery. Besides, how else can you justify a new livery and countless $$millions being pissed away!?

Delta has always been good as pissing away millions, why stop now? How many different paint jobs have they had in the last 10 years? I am not sure, but I think it is at least 3 or 4, not counting the latest.

I always thought the 757 in whichever scheme was the last major one (90's) was the best looking airplane, ever. Black nose, had an aggressive look about it on the ground, overall, just sharp. Of all the carriers with new paint these last few years, I honestly can say this one is the best. Clean and smart, while still keeping the heritage of the widget.

Give me a break... These aircraft will be repainted during their normal repainting cycle (every few years). I doubt aircraft will be taken out of revenue service for this. Have you seen the USAirways (East fleet) 737s lately? Many are badly in need of paint jobs.

The Delta paint job is interesting - it's cleaner. Beats the lame Song apple paint scheme. Keep in mind that in technical terms, a "delta" means "difference" and the engineering symbol for the "delta" is a triangle. Perhaps that what the triangle symbol stands for. A bunch of engineering nerds feel good about themselves now. Or perhaps I shouldn't have stopped sniffing glue today..................

The reason for this type of paint scheme is simple. It takes three days to pain the new tail whereas it took eleven days to paint the old one. That is a lot of lost time made up. With a fleet the size of Delta's it is a cost savings in the hundreds of millions of dollars over the next decade.

I miss the BLACK NOSE! What the HECK with the red Widget? The blue and white are fine, but the red tail and widget....not good!

The red widget makes it easy to slap a <N on after the merger.

Along with PCL doing Delta flying, all the pieces are comming together...

Why paint them at all when you will just have to paint them again when NWA buys you?

Northwest won't be doing the buying, and they won't keep their name. There will likely be a merger, and Delta will retain the management and headquarters, along with the name.

New livery = as boring as can be. Mourn the cheatline!

And yours is better? We already have new stew uniforms that have to have those colors. As ACL65pilot said, it will take less time to paint the planes with this scheme, which means more of the planes can be out flying and pounding your arse.

Leave it to Greed-stein to bastardize the widget even more.

If you look at the Delta colors of the past, this red was the color that was used way before the Tri-Color Widget.
There is actually a little history in it.

Come up with that on your own or did your mt. biking boyfriend tell you what to type?
Interesting, I make a comment about a paint job and you respond with a homophobic ad-hominim personal insult. Says a lot about you, perhaps more than even you're aware of.

Its ad-hominem, with an e sport. Says a lot about you, perhaps more than you were even aware of. Do not forget the knee pads next time you ride. Might be your turn pretending to be the girl!
