I just heard TSA new mins are 250/25! Just would like to know what the QOL/upgrade times are like? Also how easy is it to get STL and are you guys CASS yet?

If you have heard enough TSA sucks then why even ask the question about QOL. Right now QOL sucks. Upgrade time sucks (3 years). STL sucks but you should be able to hold it pretty soon. CASS is awesome but we dont have it so once again TSA sucks.

If you have close to the 250/25 mins then asking about upgrade time is pointless anyways because you wont be able to upgrade until you have the time and the seniority to upgrade. If you have 250 then you will need to get 2000 hours until you have the time to upgrade which will take at least 2.5 years to get so no matter what you will be in the right seat for that long. A lot could change in that time. We might have to hire street capts soon and then when you get the time to upgrade there might not be any upgrade spots.

Wow, and the race to the bottom changes leads to TSA. I think the only way to reduce minimums any lower would be to drop the multi requirement altogether and just have Comm MEL as the requirement. Crazy times.
 
i wouldnt doubt if the recruiters go to local flight schools and ask if anyone is taking their Commerical Multi Engine Land?!?! Good Riddance!

For whatever reason to some of you,I could careless about how bad you hate TSA. Just about every other regional out their someone always has something negative to say. So forgetabout!!!!!! All regionals out their are stepping stone's to many of us. Therefore all the negative info does me no good, infact it would be nice if some of you can shed some light on dealing with the cons and making the best out of the pros.

yeah all regionals suck, but TSA sucks the worse. Go somewhere else that sucks less!

TSA is the greatest regional airline out there. You will love it. Hulas is a very pilot friendly person and will grow TSA to a huge empire. In fact, I think he is giving everyone raises because he is such a nice guy. Upgrade time is about 2 weeks, with special waivers being issued for people with 350 hours to obtain the ATP required to be a captain. Is this what you wanted to hear?

Yeah and they also just opened up 10 new bases, they love commuters now, the benefits are now better than any government job, the attrition stoped, there will never be street captains, the new crew room is NOT a trailor, contract will be done next week, GoJEt is giving all of their routes back to TSA, Frank was wrong, they are getting more flying, they got all the good overnight Hotels back, Prefbid starts next week, they cancelled all JR. Manning, no DH to and from IAD has been ammended to the contract, the crew schedulers now are required to have a high school education, and TSA is now "the" regional to be at and RAH, XJET, and Skywest are going crazy now because they wont be able to get any qualified applicants. SHi*why did I leave that place!

The writing is on the wall, anyplace that hires 25 250 hour guys a month for attrition only. You should be able to decipher that for yourself and not rely on the opinions of the people who actually work or who have worked there! Good CAll!

Thats the exact attitude that makes TSA such a sucky place to be. Ask the people that got hired here in the mid 90s how the "stepping stone" attitude worked out. There is a good chance that you will get stuck where ever you get hired for up to 10 years. Anyways this is one of the reasons that we will fight hard for big improvements in the CBA.

You are right all regionals suck. However TSA has a higher level of suck than most. If you must get STL then check out CHQ. They are a regional so they suck to but as someone put it the other day "CHQ is the best of the worst". The cons here are hard to deal with. If you can manage to make it past the reserve stage it will suck a little less. We have 10 days off on rsv and 11 days off with a line. You might gain lots of senoirty at first, but wouldnt count on a fast upgrade. First off you have like 350 hours listed on your profile so you will be here as an FO for at least 2-3 years. And then be here another year or 2 in the left seat for a total time of about 5 years. Why come to a really sucky place for that long when you can just go to a sucky place. Not really any way to deal with the pros of this place cause really the only pros are the crews. The pilot group here is a great bunch of people and there are some times where its almost a shame the trip is over because the crew was so good. The other crewmembers are about the only thing here that will keep you sane. Cons include the CBA which we are working on. Management that will do anything they can to save money. Oh yeah and the whole GJ thing.

You say you dont care how bad you will be treated so to me it sounds like you have SJS. If you do decide to come here then I dont want to hear you complain when I fly with you and its your day 6 and you just got JR'd into another round trip.

Wow, you really know what you're talking about. How long have you been in the regionals for? You speak of pilot shortages like it's a bad thing. Take economics 101 and you'll see why it might be a good thing for the industry.

Do not come to TSA. Very low QOL, ancient contract, gOJET, HK, TSA management, etc, etc should all be good reasons to re-think your decision.


If you come here, I will stop by the crewroom in STL to tell you I told you so as you get owned by scheduling. Actually, I might have to got to RIC to do that since you will be sitting out there for a 4 day stretch.

I hated TSA. That place is as bad as people say.

same thing happen to me repeatedly at TSA. For 3 whole months it felt like I lived at the A-Gates in IAD, I slept in the mesa/Republic crew room more than I did at home, I ate more meals at Famiglia more than I ate at my own kitchen table, I saw all my friends from training in the A gates more than I saw my friends and family at home. I even started to talk with an "istani" accent after listening to those idiotic gate agents passenger announcements over and over and over and over and over. yeah TSA was awesome, good game.
