    United new hire class seniority?

I believe second year pay is only when you sign up for a two year commitment. If you don't take the commitment you can bid back any time you want. Are you single or married without children? If you have kids, private school is probably a must. If you are worried about getting GUM as a...

Having pioneered the abuse of ALPA merger policy

It has been discussed at nauseam, and is no different than any other award out there. Pilots hired AFTER the MAD (2010) will be below everybody else. Same thing will apply at USaIr/AWA/American and applied at NW/Delta. I'm a bit surprised you didn't know that answer already.

Having pioneered the abuse of ALPA merger policy

For the love of God man...please read a few of the awards! The awards always reference the MAD, not what happened later on. If you want to say the CAL furloughees were right-sized for the merger, no problem. If you want to say all furloughees should be in their own category I would disagree...

Having pioneered the abuse of ALPA merger policy

You do realize the 147 plus the additional 500 were re-hired/hired after the MAD? I find it unlikely that the arbitrators will allow three years of growth on one side to be credited to only that one side. We are just along for the ride. Interesting to discuss, but in the end we obviously...

Having pioneered the abuse of ALPA merger policy

Notice there is no category called furloughed (even though there were furloughed pilots) and each of the six categories was ordered by Date of Longevity. Apply this to UAL/CON and I think you would have a "fair" list that meets both ALPAs policy and follows past precedent. You would have to...

Having pioneered the abuse of ALPA merger policy

Can you post what fleet and seat they were in at the MAD? Just because there has been incredible growth in the last three years (since the merger announcement) don't think an arbitrator will be forced to take into account an updated status and category position like the CAL opener proposed. -Mil

What is United's Newhire pilot base

Latest class that started on Mon had IAH and EWR split evenly. Two people were on Mil Leave so they went to bases that they could hold with their seniority. (LAX and ORD, I believe). Remember, right now hiring is only taking place on the Continental side. After the SLI occurs in May-Jul...

    United Strike Vote

Hmmm You sir, are a tool. What posible value was this post? I'm assuming you are a management pilot, so we can't expect more. Scope will be tricky but we need to look to decrease reliance on outsourced jobs using the Delta TA as a stepping stone. Lastly, there is zero value to...

    CAL MEC considering leaving JCBA

What was the deal? First of all, many UAL guys have gotten way too emotional. If a CAL guy asks a simple question like "on the London layover is there a place where I can buy a roll of toilet paper?" there are 10 responses on how he can stick the paper up his behind and 5 more on how j pierce...

    Tilton talking merger again

UAL and Continental If the Aer Lingus deal continues to go through, the prevailing wisdom in the industry is to call the merged airlines Contlingus. It seems kind of catchy don't you think?

    Flying Blind: Deregulation reconsidered

"True free market capitalism has not been allowed to exhibit itself and flourish. Bankrupcy courts (government oversight) have been very adept at keeping all the players on the field. As air carriers are being forced to compete with the "living dead", instead of happily expanding into the newly...
