This silly dues reduction would have saved me about 7 bucks from my last paycheck. What a complete waste of time and effort by people that just want to try to stay relevent I guess.
1 Extremely Lucky Dude
I was in the 20 Aug class at AA. I was furloughed on 30 Sep. Got my 737 type 22 Oct and jumped in the SWA pool (I had already interviewed). Started at SWA on 27 Mar and my resignation letter to AA was dated 27 Mar. I am extremely fortunate to be flying at Southwest as...
Flint,
You really need to read AND UNDERSTAND your (our) contract before you come on here and spout off about how much you will be paid after upgrading. Until you understand the contract, please don't give advice or info to others.
Why only 50/month?
The logical question is why only 50/month? I was in the last class at AA that started on 20 Aug. 36 out of 51 of us went to the 727 as FEs. There are no more 72s hence all that training capacity is lost. Initial training will now be in the F100, S80, and occasionally the...
Contract?
I start in 6 days and have gotten no "contract" to sign. I received a package with a lot of paperwork to fill out and a letter from Greg Crum (Vice President Flight Operations) welcoming me to Southwest. It did say "I will need you to confirm your acceptance of our employment offer...
Additional info
Just got the Chief Pilot call so I thought I'd pass on a couple additional bits of info. The class starts on 27 Mar (Wed) instead of the normal Thurs start. Due to Good Friday I think. The Chief Pilot told me that I was originally slated for the 11 Apr class but somebody...
T45 no longer alone!!!
Just got the call from Jennifer for the 28 Mar class! I was beginning to resign myself to 11 Apr (which would have been fine). Still looks like the class date will be 2 weeks to a month earlier than than what she tells you. Hang in there everybody, it won't be long.....
Bananas
I once put a banana in one of the pockets of my helmet bag for a snack and forgot to eat it. I turned my helmet in to life support after the flight and tossed the helmet bag into my trunk. Didn't fly again for about a week and a half. That bad boy was RIPE! I had to wash the helmet...
I am a furloughed AA pilot. I have no problem resigning my seniority and will do so when I start at SWA in the next month or so. Don't resign anything, sign any letters, etc for the interview. You can make it clear that if you are offered a job at Southwest you will resign from your previous...
Spoke with Jennifer today
Jennifer told me today that it still looked like it would be an April class for me but it was too soon to tell whether it would be the early or late April class. She said to wxpect to get the word towards the end of March so hopefully the next time I talk to her it...
Navigators are the guys running the show in the B-52. They have total control of which weapons land where. As most of you have seen in recent news stories, the B-52 is an still an awesome weapon system. The pilots' job is to get airborne, onload fuel from the tanker, handle communications and...
FWIW I counted NO "Other" time even though, like you, there were times I logged it when I was technically the PIC. There wasn't enough to make it worth raising anyone's eyebrow. Had I kept a civilian logbook and dutifully logged all of my time, I still wouldn't have used it. I would ALWAYS...
For what it's worth,
If you accomplished a full stop landing and a subsequent takeoff, the .3 can be added for each leg as it is counted as a separate sortie. Doing a drop in for a touch & go doesn't count.
JM's number
Here's the number I've been using
(214) 792-5088
It worked when I checked in with her last month. I plan to check in with her again on Monday. Still holding out hope for a March class....
Due to the current world situation, the Air Force (and Marine KC-130 pilots I think) is not allowing pilots to separate or retire. Nobody is sure when it will end so those affected may be stuck for awhile.
If FedEx is such a great place, why the concern that furloughed pilots will bolt at their first opportunity. Maybe because most (not all mind you) hate the FedEx flying schedule. Once the passenger carriers start hiring again, the exodus from FedEx will resume anyway.
