I flew with a JB CA last week, mulling over the same stuff. He said there are between 60-80 JB CA's that have DL call back rights and will have to make a decision in the next 6-12 months of the TA passes.
He had a full blown spread sheet with all kinds of info on both company's (including a lot...
I assume this is VA's first and only flight into DCA? Going to be very hard to make money with one flight into a station. Maintaining the station gate/equipment (fixed costs) is very expansive when you don't have multiple flights to divide up the costs. Unless VA can add more slots my guess...
"The lowest top-scale captain’s salary was $123,480 at JetBlue Airways, and the highest among passenger airlines was again at Southwest: $181,270 a year."
Assuming "top-scale" really means "bottom scale", FLTops must not have thought the E190 is flown at mainline USairways becuse there CA's...
Did you realize that of the 25 or so diversons to BDL that day (6 JB), a majority broke the 3 hr rule? That includes almost every airline in this country and some from others. JB just had the one that sat the longest, so we get that sweet free press.
The situation was a total mess. There were...
Just a couple of corrections:
1. 12 off on 30 day months, 13 off on 31 day months. After a couple months ur PTO will be active and u can PTO a day or two if u need more in a given month.
5. 12-20 day off for line holders. We use PBS and it really depends what you want and what you can hold...
I agree with both of your points. Makes no sense (JB is expensive, we would lose money the monent they bought us and added there cost structure, both with large overlap in JFK, South FLa and BOS, ect) AA buying JB would also be the worst thing possible for the pilots ALPA or no ALPA.
I think...
What again is stopping JB from setting up a holding company tomorrow? This document isn't allowing JB to do anything (that they can't do today), and is adding some limited protections for the JB pilots.
That said, it is a sad day for JB, as the company has for ever (last week to my face...
This does a good job of explaining what I was trying to say:

Longhorn, How is JB not growing and making tons of cash? We just had our best Q ever and are taking 9 (ish) aircraft in 2010 and 9 in 2011. Who's growing faster by % of aircraft then we are?
I understand your frustration but you have to understand that growing to fast is what got JB in...
1. 12/13 depending on 30/31 day bid
2. 2 hr short, 14 hr long
3. Airport RSV almost never happens and I'm not even sure that it's even allowed under the new FSM.
4. We have short and long call. Its not something you bid. If they have reserves about the min required, they are put on long...
