Haven’t done the cub gaggle yet but I assume multiple planes in close proximity, not formation, may get non stop traffic alerts especially now with the G3X offering them. What do people do to mitigate alerts when flying in “formation” to destinations?
This may be the answer to airplane camping as well as other uses such as backpacking, hiking, and more. It seems this new device about 12 inches in length can be powered by USB C so something like a Jackery many have, including self, will give you Internet in remote locations. Good for checking...

When parking at a FBO it concerns me when having to taxi over tie down ropes. My concern is something kicking up into the prop. I'm not sure if I'm just paranoid but what is your take on parking when there are tie down ropes you have to go over?
I'm curious on when people use lean of peak vs. not. In my last FX-3 I had situations where the engine would hiccup as discussed in another thread below and catch my attention. My new FX-3 has done this the first time about two weeks ago and I think I discovered the trend. I'm typically just...
I have a Garmin G3X experimental with a GFC 500 and roll/pitch servos in my Carbon Cub FX-3. I have the GMC 305 control head but that part is moot.
Did you know...pressing and holding the AP "disconnect" button will actually engage your autopilot? It's called control wheel steering (CWS) and is...
Fly-in season is arriving and I like to go to destinations with grass strip events. The question is when to tie down. I have parking brakes, I learned it's best to just engage one side so wind or something spins you vs flips you over but my concern would be prop blast, etc. If lined up in a row...
It amazes me how cluttered various unicom's are such as 122.7 and 122.8 for example. Why don't we have more frequencies available for unicom use at uncontrolled fields so that we don't have to compete with each other within radio distance?
How do you build your network of places to fly in the backcountry? Finding grass strips, permissions, etc?
I use the website below but it's pretty slim in my area. Trying to figure out how to find more exciting places to fly in my somewhat local area. Any tips...
I believe EAA has resources, but when the time comes I prefer to sell on my own. How hard is it or do you suggest hiring help of some sort to help with the sale?
I once had thoughts about either a home with my own grass strip or living in a hangar home community. I attended a seminar at EAA AirVenture (Oshkosh) about hangar home living and it almost immediately turned me off to the concept with restrictions, concerns about limited market for selling when...
For those of you with float planes, do you leave floats on year round or do you switch to tires at times? How hard is it to switch out floats to tires etc.?
How much do floats typically weigh. They seem monstrous and heavy.
What brands are better than others? Pro's and con's?
Any regrets...
CubCrafters just completed its first several demo birds of the new rotax powered Carbon Cub UL. For anyone that gets a demo or a look at the new UL feel free to share your findings and perception.
What is airline hiring looking like as of spring of 2024? It seems like things have slowed down yet the big pilot shortage has gone quiet. Anyone care to share what the latest situation is across the airline and also corporate world if you choose to share?
On my CubCrafters FX-3 the POH says bottom of the green arc is 55 psi. On my last FX-3 (2021) I never saw oil in the yellow. On my new FX-3 it's caught my attention on the ground with lower RPM going into the yellow much less the bottom of the green on the new plane is 60 and not 55. Is this an...
