    DO328J vs BAE41

328dude, I believe they lost all 5 DU's due to a failure of the 1VE panel. I'm not positive on that but it's what one of our mx guys told me. Not to nitpick, but on the jet, DU's 4 & 5 are powered by DC Bus 2, not the non-essential bus 2. I assume it's the same on the prop. Blue skies, BR

Pedal car airplane models at Oskosh

I don't remember who the company was, but I think I remember seeing an ad in the back of Trade-A-Plane for these things. It's been a while but maybe they still have them in there. -BR

    ACA Grow or Flush?

    >>As far as having any thing against the ACA pilots, well, most all Comair pilots will never forget the ACA+I% CRAP we had to fight while we were on strike. You people folded after just 10 months of negotiations while we were fighting for our lives to get a great contract for 3 plus years. ACA...

    PA32R Prop Governor

You answered your own question in #2. The easiest way to think about what happens to the prop with no oil pressure is to look at it when the plane is sitting idle on the ramp. Without the engine running, there's no oil pressure to get into the hub and therefore the prop goes into flat pitch /...

    ACA questions

Huh? I think if you re-read my post you'll see that I said that only the most senior get 16-17 days off. If you look at the BOS FRJ CA bids from last month, the top 5 lines had between 16 and 18 days off. I agree that most of us will only see 11-12 days off. BR

    ACA questions

I'll try to answer a few... 1. Days Off: Min of 11 days for those junior up to maybe 16-17 for the most senior. Count on 11-12 days off for most lines. 2. United Bases: IAD - CRJ, 328JET, J41 ORD - CRJ 3. Delta Bases: BOS, LGA, and CVG (eff. 5/1/02) - all 328JET...

    takeoff minimums

Generally speaking, min ceilings don't come into play until you start talking about alternate airports. Our Op Specs make no mention of ceilings at all in regards to T/O mins. We, as I'm sure most other airlines, have reduced T/O mins which allow takeoff as low as RVR 600/600/600 provided...

    ACA 328Jet Domicile in CVG?

The CVG base is a definite. It will open on May 1st. As far as seniority, it's not quite clear how that will turn out as the results of the base transfer bids won't be out until the first part of April. I can't help you with the hiring info. I would definitely apply and wish for the best. Good...

    Max. Ramp Weight

Thanks for the responses so far. At the risk of being anal about this, let me propose this scenario: You are sitting at the ramp and your plane is loaded at exactly its max ramp weight. A ramper walks up the stairs and hands you the baggage slip. Now you're overweight. What do you do?

    Max. Ramp Weight

I'm studying for recurrent and this question came up. I hope someone can help... Suppose an airplane is parked on the ramp and it gets loaded such that the max ramp weight is exceeded. The aircraft is never moved until weight is removed. Has a limitation been broken? I have heard arguments...

ACA Pilots!!! Why did you vote NO!

The likelihood that the UAX codeshare would go Bye-Bye is slim. More likely to happen is that the UA pilots win their scope grievance on March 1st which would result in us probably having to park airplanes. The charter proposal was a way to take aircraft deliveries that would have gone into the...

    SkyWest getting Sued!

It was a Mesa ERJ crew in October of last year. It took me about two seconds to find this in the NTSB database. In the future, please make sure you have your facts straight before making false accusations about us or anyone else for that matter. As a forum moderator, I would expect a higher...

328dude, Max altitude for the "DoJet" is also FL310.

    Standard Call-Outs

There really isn't such a thing as "standard" calls amongst the airlines. You'll find that calls vary by airline and then by aircraft type. A few we have that are kind of standard are: 1. Altitude ( i.e. 7000 for 8000, FL 240 for FL 230, etc.) 2. Height above DH or MDA (1000, 500, 200, 100...

    Comair's new aircraft..

How did you guys work out the pay issues on the CRJ40 ? I know that, at least initially, there was talk that the crews on the 40 seaters would be paid less than those on the 50 seat versions. Just curious...

    Alternator/Generator Diff. between them

The other distinction that I meant to make is that you can't store AC power. So, if you need to store electrical energy, i.e. batteries, then you need to have a DC system.

    Alternator/Generator Diff. between them

AC power can definitely be used in aircraft. I am not an engineer either, but the distinction as to whether or not something uses AC or DC power is based loosely on the type of load that it draws. Generally speaking higher load items use AC power and lower load items use DC. Lots of exceptions...

    ACjet pilot bases

AcJet no longer exists. That certificate was closed and all of the DL Connection flying was merged onto the ACA certificate. It has been a while since I interviewed but they have always placed people in airplanes based upon the need at the time. You could go into either the DL or UA side. I...

    Tech/systems manual for Citation X

Citation X You could call Honeywell and see if they will send you the manuals for the avionics. I'm pretty sure it's all Primus 2000 equipment. My guess is that they will want a nice chunk of change for them however. My .02.
