Maybe it's just the hubs I usually pass through (DTW/MEM/MSP), but I have never seen the "Spiky hair, Ipod, backpack toting, sunglass wearing, walking stereotype guy". Maybe once every few months I will either see some outlandish hairdo or a backpack. Never seen a pilot walking with an Ipod...
This will be the impetus for Colgan to be fully merged with Pinnacle. PCL ALPA will get their wish of one list/one company, although a tragic crash was not the best way for it to happen.
I can't believe that Delta/US Airways/United/Skywest/Expressjet or anyone with $5 million and something to gain from their demise hasn't done this yet.
Your version sounds the same as my brother's interview/hiring experience there. I'm glad to see that pilots are in control of hiring. That is the way it should be.
However, Hockeypilot's post was not referring to times like these where companies can afford to be selective. When there are...
Nice idea, but do you really think that the pilots will be given control of hiring standards at any airline? Maybe you should start with scope first...
I have hitched a ride to BZE on Continental from IAH. Obviously you can't ride in the cockpit but if your airline has an agreement you can ride in the back. Once you get there go to the Tropic Air ticket counter and tell them you are a pilot and show your ID. Most of the time they will give...
It's a crappy situation for Comair, but you should know better than to believe a rumor about new airplanes until they are sitting at your gate. You can't lose something that you never had.
With ALPA you have legal recourse. Without representation you are subject to the whim of management. I think the Colgan pilots have already seen what that can be like.
Have you taken your issue to management? I don't see how bitching and whining on an anonymous message board as fighting for anything but keep it up. Keep being proactive and all of you problems will soon be solved.
Oh yeah, while your schedule isn't perfect there are THOUSANDS of...
And what was the economic plan that got us into this mess? Oh, yeah it was low taxes on the rich so the money would "trickle down". Unfortunately the trickle was just us getting pissed on.
Why do you think Teamsters would do any better than ALPA when dealing with the morons on Nonconnah? Whichever union you choose, they will still refuse to negotiate in good faith. It's not ALPA that they don't like, it is their employees in general.
1.5%... as we all know cheaper is...
