I'm surprised nobody has posted KB's letter to Skywest pilots concerning the ASA TA. It would be interesting to compare what this guys are being asked to vote on versus what management really thinks.
When we first went CASS, one of the stipulations was that if there was a passenger seat available, ANY(not check airman)jumpseater would have to ride in back.
I've been jumpseating offline quite a bit lately, and a few times I've been given the option to sit in the actual, or in the cabin...
I live in a medium size midwest town with no airline service. I do some real estate investing and over the past months I've made some connections. I've got 4, maybe 5, companies interested in an airplane. Where can I find info on starting our own mini fractional? Things like initial investment...
I'm going to start commuting from DAY in the next couple of weeks. I have asked the airport police, the info counter, some of the employees, and no one seems to know where a commuter can buy a parking pass.
There has got to be some people commuting out of DAY, what do you guys do for parking...
Next month I'm going to start commuting between Dayton and Pittsburg. I thought it would be an easy thing, but I've found that it can be pretty difficult.
Through CVG, the earliest I can get there is 1pm. Through CLE its 1900, no jumpseat. On US Airways is through CLT, or PHL.
Any ideas...
Since the much forcasted shortage of "qualified" pilots seems to have arrived, at least at the regional level, how can ALPA national take advantage of the labor shortage to bring up the industry as a whole?
I've been watching the Dogfight series on the History channel. I specially like the Vietnam F4 episodes. When I was starting in aviation, a lot of Phantom drivers were retiring at Nellis, and I got to fly with some of them and heard the stories.
Of all the stories I've watched on the History...
I was in the hotel lobby in LA a couple of days ago, when this Asian airline crew came down. The FA's had dark green uniforms, and the pilots light blue with gold stripes.
There was of course, the captain with 4 stripes, an FO with 3 strips, and a third crewmember with 3 full strips and the...
The F-16's that I'm familiar with, have clean, sleek fuselages. A couple of days ago, I was in TUS and saw some that have rectangular additions to either side of the fuselage. They look more like Tornados than F-16's, but the tower kept pointing them out as F16's. I believe they were all two...
Just got the latest issue of the Skywest internal newspaper. In it Ron Reber is quoted saying that Delta wants RJ flying out of LAX, Skywest can't do it because of the United agreement, but ASA can. The 900's are still coming to Skywest, but the transfer of the 700's has been delayed...
O.K. we know that SAPA has no legal standing. With Skywest Inc. transferring assets(airplanes, route authorizations)from ASA to Skywest, couldn't/shouldn't ASA ALPA be applying for single carrier status?
In the long run , it seems that this would be more beneficial than any negotiations they...
We were enroute this morning, in a fairly laid back center sector, the controller chimes in with a somewhat concerned voice...
Center: "Aircraft12345 say your altitude."
Totally oblivious pilot: "18,500"
Center: "Uh...you're not suppossed to be VFR above FL180."
Totally oblivious...
On Wed., March 8th, we were monitoring 121.5 when someone came on broadcasting a mayday, saying that he had lost his windshield. He was over MVA and trying to make it to KTPH. After a while he seemed to settle down and things looked like they were going to work out. We listened for as long as...
Don't know why, but it occurred to me that I haven't seen or heard a C141 for some time, are they still flying? I know a while back they had some wing spars break while refueling.
Thanks
I was driving into Denver a couple of days ago and noticed that the old Stapleton tower is still standing. Does anybody know why? Is it being used for other purposes. like maybe firefighter training?
Thanks
