    Weird interview questions

That's a confusing one. I'm pretty sure 'conditional' is ICAO terminology but I'll have to look that up to be 100% sure. As far as the ILS/LOC I always brief and teach to review both minima and to continue on a LOC approach if the GS fails. You should be familiar with the LOC minima so if the GS...

CFIs and Professionals: What advice to new pilots concerning PIC logging?

I recommend them to only log the time they are the PIC. Take the 'sole manipulator of' time as extra experience but don't log it. It just clusters the whole thing by logging PIC in 3 different ways, legal or not. The question of much PIC time you have should be answered by how much experience...

    Unsafe, but Legal (or Not?)

OK, i'll play and for now I'm on skyway's side. Are you sure he is Private Pilot rated? Are you sure he does not have an Instrument rating? Are you sure he did not file? How many hours do this guy have and how was that experience accumulated? If this guy is a 45 hr Private he is probably an...

Is it likely that the FAA would pursue enforcement action against this pilot?

I would not if I was an FAA inspector and I'm an a--hole and the local airport snitch. Don't see anything outrageous or dangerous going on. Considering the number of photographers clearly something that was agreed upon or briefed.

Specific question about logging safety pilot time

Correct, no landings, cross country time or anything else but total flight time and PIC. Example: 2.5 hr cross country flight with 3 landings and 2 practice approaches with the Pilot flying under the hood for 1.3 the safety pilot only gets to log.....drumroll......1.3
