    horizon pilots jumpseat

I don't commute, so I won't even pretend to know what that's like - nor will I debate it on an online forum. Actually, I do offer to sit in the jump on deadhead flights. Not because I want more revenue on the plane, but simply because I do a lot of volunteer work for our pilot union, and I...

Ask the MX Reps. They're the ones that negotiate on MX behalf. Besides, the seats in the back are for revenue. I'd rather an employee sit in the jump so that the company can recognize the revenue that was given to them. That is, afterall, the goal of our business.

    Book Recommendations

I just picked up Flying the Line again. Haven't read it in at least 5 years, and I'll be damned if you couldn't interchange the year 1930 with 2009. The Goal is a good book. So is How to Win Friends and Influence People. I also like Hidden Kuaui.

Alaska Pilots-Info needed on Warbelows Air Ventures

I worked there on and off, and loved it. It's been 3 years now, and I do miss it. Hard work, though. Hard work and long days. Other people probably have differing opinions.

    horizon airlines questions

I'm curious why Art was tapped to make public comments. Shouldn't that come from someone more, I dunno, reputable? 90% of our employees read that and said 'who's Art?' Also, for those not in the know, the 10% match for pilots is contractual. That won't be going away for new hires.

    Horizon Air...speeding up the process

    1. They'll tell you what airplane it will be when they tell you you're hired. 4 years ago when I got hired (again), I asked to delay my class for personal reasons. They said no problem, but it may be a different airplane. They'll stick you in whatever airplane they need filled that day. I've...

    QX Hiring

Amen. Fedex won't hire me because I don't meet their mins - even though I'm a really great guy and have lots of experience and am educated and am really personable and I know people who know people. I still don't meet their requirements. Guess I'll just have to work towards that goal...

    Qx 401k?

I'm gonna hang on a limb here, but I believe it's a law that the stock be that of the employing/offering company; and vesting is a corporate standard to encourage retention. I've never worked for a company (both in and outside of aviation) that didn't have a lengthy vesting period. Oh, and...
