There was a scale Spitfire in the replica fighters area at Airventure last year that drew a lot of attention. They had brochures they were giving out, so I think it was, or will be, a kit. It was very impressive because the engine fit in the cowl which is what usually destroys the lines of a scale fighter. I think EAA could help track it down.
W.A.R replicas is still in businees I think. They have the popular WWII fighter kits in 2/3 to 3/4 scale. This is not a recommendation though. I haven't heard good things about them so do some research.
There is also some WWI models out there that appear to have a following. I want to say "Dawn Patrol" is what the kits are under, but I may be way off on that one.
There are several P-51 replicas available; here is one on the lower performance and cost end, but still all metal. http://www.titanaircraft.com/t-51d.php
