Question about buying an existing 135 certificate. If the 135 operator currently operates helicopters, can one purchase the certificate with the intent of flying single engine planes?

How to Obtain an FAA Part 135 Certificate Without Having to Apply (and Wait Years) for a New Certificate

It is probably possible but the FSDO or Aviation Attorney would know best since you are changing what is operating on the certificate.
Good article*. And it demonstrates how complex a transfer can be. Even within the aviation law community, this is a specialty. You may also find there are Part 135 compliance companies that can help with the details.
As it points out, the FSDO is not the place to start.

For adding an aircraft, the requirements are the subject of this AC. NBAA has some good material.

* should I add a disclaimer that I almost worked for that firm?
