Isn't PSA tied solely to USAir? That might not be a winning bet.

Remember Xjet is tied soley to CAL until 2007!

About the only 'advise' I can give you is to decide if the size of XJT as compared to PSA is better for you in the long term. If USAir dumps, what happens to PSA? CAL will be around and so will XJT. Problem is the upgrade here will be long........very long!

I talked with and Aircraft Broker today, who told me to stay away from XJet. She said, she's heard of some real "interesting" stories come from her informed friends.

??? Your choice.

Dude - get off the crack while you still can- you got a degree - run for the freaking hills - I know you can make more than 17,000 a year doing just about anything. Screw X-jet and PSA - save yourself- grab a good job and don't look back at the thermo nuclear mushroom cloud - it will only make you cry-- even if you do pick one of them - get a second job - a back up plan - don't rely on an airline job - be smart - and diversify yourself. Good luck- K.B.

An aircraft broker has an airline crystal ball? What in the world would they have that could be considered an "interesting" story? Interesting enough to stay away from XJet?

She has a lot of contacts. She works in the On Demand Charter business. My word "Interesting" was a word of ettequette. Trying to be nice.

Well, what are the stories? You can't just leave it at "I've heard things" and expect people to believe you.

The CRJ has a more comfortable cockpit than the ERJ, but PSA is pinned to a faster-sinking ship... I'd say go for Coex despite the cramped cockpit - I like the ERJ-XRs with winglets...

Apart from a few things I'd fix ergonomically (like moving the DAP's to the center console), the ERJ cockpit is quite spacious. I've moved my seat back, reclined, and studied the circuit breakers quite well before.

This is true, but hopefully our management has some diversification plans in the next two and a half years so we're not stuck on one ship. Plus I think alot is going to happen to this industry in the next couple of years. JMHO.

Sounds like some great advice!

Yeah, by all means stay away from a company that made over 1 billion last year. With all due respect DF, our own management team has no idea where we'll be in 6 months, so I highly doubt your source has a clue. Xjet is currently in contract negotiations with its pilots, mechanics, and dispatchers. Our cost structure will change dramatically in the next year and I sure you'll see some "interesting decisions" once we complete these steps.

BJET.. I don't mean to insult anyone at XJet, I personally don't have any experience with the company. I was just relaying the opinion of another who mentioned Xjet. Sorry, if you became offended. Perhaps, I shouldn't bring up second hand opinions on this board?

Falcon,

I apologize if you thought my reply was any bit harsh. I was in no way offended by your post. However, someone is trying to make a career decision (I hope not solely based on the crap he'll find at these boards), so why not tell him about what you know and not what you've heard. As for second hand opinions, if they weren't posted on these boards- there would be nothing to read.

Oh please. Second hand opinions are all we have in this industry. XJT is a shell company, it'll likely be disolved when it's costs get too high (read:as pilot senority increases). Same goes for every other regional out there.

Good riddance.

The sad part is when you run into an individual with no applications out, claiming a career at a shell company. I feel for his wife and kids. At least thier offspring won't have the funds to pursue an aviation career. And the woman, she'll find a nice grocery store clerk to snuggle up to who makes more money than her ex pilot AND has more job security.

Congrats cunaguaro,

You are in a good position right now. I can only tell you about Xjet, I don't know a whole lot about PSA. But my experience with Xjet has been a good one. I am just now finishing up training. Xjet's training dept. is top notch. Most everyone I talk to out on the line have nothing but good things to say about the company. A few are pretty synical. Don't let that get you though. As with any job, there are going to be things about that are unpleasent, i.e. gone from home a lot, bad pay at the beginning. But it is like that at any job, unless you are a genius and can earn a 100 grand in your first year playing with computers. Here's the way I look at it, I love to fly. I would rather do this than anything else. It is a dream for me to be here at a good airline flying a jet. As you have probably read, other people don't share my enthusiasm. -----But I would go with Xjet. Good Luck to you!
