I have been wondering were to go next, I have been out of the loop as far as regionals are concerned. I have been flying 135 for 6 years and I am getting the urge to move on to something else.

I have been flying a King Air 200 for 4 years now and the pay is great and the company is great.

I have 4500 TT, 2700 ME, 1200 turbine PIC.

No type ratings.

With these times, what can expect!

What are the conditions to upgrade to captain on most regionals? Who is hiring, what is the pay like?

I live in Sioux Falls SD, so I would like to get on with ACA, Air Whisky, or Skywest.

What about Netjets, or the fractionals?
I need to do some research again, after 9-11 I just dug in and really did not consider a move in the near future.

Sounds like a great place to work. If you do choose to leave your current position, would you mind giving the rest of a us a heads up? It would be much appreciated.

Mark,

SWA, and Frontier are looking for people....skip the regionals with your time!!!

Thanks for the info guys.

I was wondering if by-passing the regionals was a possibility.

I figured there would be so many qualified pilots applying to SWA and others that they could pick and choose guys with time in type and so on. I filled out SWA online app and had no response. Is there a loophole?

I have a few connections at SWA but have not pursued it. I would like to study the industry a bit more.

Are most guys on furlough holding their seniority number and just weathering the storm?

I like the job I have now, but I started this career with airlines in mind. I am 28 now and have been flying for 13 years. Time for a new adventure.

We have 2 guys from NWA flying with us, 1 guy from AA, and one from United, only 1 guy plans on going back. The rest show little interest. Is this an industry trend?

I have never flown for an airline, so I am from the outside looking in, and I don't even have a stool to look in, I am just listening to what other are saying, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

After reading some of the posts here I thank the good lord I have a job doing what I love and that I can pay my bills.

Mark.
Hello from the other side of the state. I know Air Wisconsin is hiring, we just a guy here leave a King Air job for Wisconsin. I guess the deliveries must have been happening fast, because he was only on reserve for two weeks. Off topic, it's nice to have someone on this board who knows the joy of a King Air in 0V6 at 95 degrees plus.

Man, I thought the Sioux Valley pilots were the only guys subject to the abuse of the bud (0V6). Landing there at night is surreal. No approach lights, 15-watt bulbs in the runway lights, and a sloping runway. I wish the BIA would cut that huge cotton wood tree down at the end of runway 29. I always think I am going to hit it on approach.

Last summer they re-surfaced the runway, notam'ed it open. We landed there on a 95-degree day and the tar they put down was like syrup. Slid all the way to the end and had tar all over the plane. There was about 2 inches built up on the wheels with little rocks stuck to them.

Do you fly out of Rapid?

I flew cargo for BAC, then was hired on at SV in 2000. I love my job; pay is good for SD and plenty of time to do other things. I must have the "grass is greener" syndrome. SVH treats us great and the equipment is maintained great. I am just interested in what is out there beyond the Midwest.
